pigeon controller
I received a phone call this morning while I was at the stables attending to the wifes horse, the farmer was complaining of the number of crows on his barley, so I rushed back collected my gear and set out . As I drove down to the field I could not see a bird in the sky so I parked on the grass field and took the gun to walk into the barley as I needed some decoys. When I was walking along the edge of the barley a crow spooked out of the hedge and I'd got my first decoy. With the shot the the crows spiralled up in two shafts just like the twisters you see in the movies. Two more shots produced three more decoys, I was lucky that they dropped into the flattend area. With the sun being hot and no cover near the barley I decided to shoot the grass next to the barley. I kept adding to the number of decoys until I'd used all my spikes this ment that I had fifty decoys out. I took a picture of the setup for your information. I shot from 10.30 to 17.00 and picked up one hundred and fortynine crows and jackdaws and seven pigeon. I lost at least ten birds in the stream between the grass and the barley. I saw the farmer on the way home and showed him the pictures and he said when can you come again I've had two other shooters on the crows and they say they are too spooky to decoy and only get ten or so. A great day as I had some great high shots they came down with oxegen masks on !!!
