evo
well got up early today as I had been out on a reckie the day before yesterday for 2 hours on one of my perms and had noticed a lot of pigeons about, most where very high but on one particular field I saw a couple of pigeons sitting in a tree, I decided to watch what was happening for a couple of hours, there was three trees that the birds where coming to and staying for a while before carrying on their journey, in the middle of the field was a solitary oak tree and a lot of pigeons where landing in this also, all in all there was quite a few about but the field was grass only, I decided to get up early and have a couple of hours after them, I set the hide up under the three trees over looking the big oak, and on walking to them a few lifted, I put 5 shells out spread round the near side of the oak tree and 20yrds from the hide put a dead pigeon from the freezer on a flapper in the hope of drawing them back to the roosting trees, the oak tree was 45yrds from me so anything flying between was well in range, after 30 mins nothing had showed then they started to come back to the trees, the movement from the flapper was certainly working, after four hours I had accounted for 26 and picked 24, not a bad couple of hours considering I was shooting over grass, just goes to show that having a reckie first can pay dividends atb Evo
