Semi Auto Club

Just become a member of the semi auto club, thanks to rich1984 selling me his like-new armsan 612. If you have the chance to have dealings with rich, do so without trepidation, he's a thoroughly decent chap, and the transaction went off without a hitch due to his honesty and communication.

No idea what the shotgun is like as I won't get to shoot it til Sunday, but it's light, has a wonderful rubbery feel, like your hands won't slip even in heavy rain, and comes to the shoulder well.

Excited? Just a bit!

I really like those little Twelvettes, and once passed up the opportunity to buy one with two sets of barrels. Having had a Browning 2000, I really like the practicality of the 'speed loader' device in the side of the action. I'm assuming it's the same function in the Twelvette.

I believe it's the same principal but the 2000 has a proper magazine tube system, That's one on my too get list.

Just thought I would add a pretty picture for all the members that have a short attention span like myself.

These are my autos. The farm workhorse my hatstand,( brill gun, would recommend every day of the week for a beginner), the old boy, my browning Auto-5 made by FN and finally the accidental pickup which turned out being the best accident I've had recently, my browning B80 in 20g.

Cracking guns and I use all of them regularly, whether it be on the pigeons, corvids, ducks or much to my syndicates distain the pheasants!

Browning Auto 5's for me

Two in the cabinet with another at the RFD's

They're a story in themselves with all the design changes over the decades, the Remington side-story, the copies, military usage, etc.

Holy Grail for me is the Police model as a complete gun & the Buck Special barrel as an accessory

Got to agree my A5 is as good as the day it came out of the factory 60 years ago, brings down the pigeons like no other but I don't like throwing it around so my go to farm gun is the hatsan auto, people say they are **** and maybe theirs are but mine has never missed a beat as long as you use 23/4 carts and no smaller. Destroys the ducks and loves the challenge of high geese which I get a few chances a year, plus, I don't mind it getting banged up as it only cost me £200 new.

My other semi auto is a browning B80 in 20 gauge which is a really lovely walk around gun as its so light.

Hi Guy's here is the list of my semi's:

Hatsan

B2000 X 4

Franchi 48

A5 old one x 2

Remington 11/87 Premier

391 x 2

Double Auto

Remington 1100 sporter

Beda

Winchester Super X1 x 3

Benelli Comfort

and currently an ATA

So you could say that I like them.

Every time I sell one I bitterly regret it, but it is fun to change.

Of them all the Winchester Super X1's are the ones that is extremely well built, but they all do the job.

Most would cycle clay loads if clean and correctly set up and correctly lubed as in the case of the A5's

I have also had a number of pump's but perhaps we had better not go there as this is the semi auto post :)

Nice gun mate! I've always fancied and 'nice' semi like this

Cheers, it really is nice and I'm not intending to sell it any time soon.

I love the quick release forend, the speed load feature and the magazine lock so you can unload a shell and swap it without having to cycle through the full magazine.

I actually went to the shop to buy a new Escort or Winchester but saw the used Maxus on the shelf and couldn't resist.

It doesn't look out of place anywhere and I'm careful to look after it when I go decoying.

I did see a guy using the carbon fibre effect stock version at a game fair clay competition last week and he had an awful jam in the middle of his round!

He was using 24 gram cartridges in it and it jammed good and proper.

He got very embarrassed having to fully strip it and prise the cartridge out with a queue waiting behind him ha ha

I've only ever used 28g or above in mine and it's never missed a beat. It's not a gun I'd want to use anything less in anyway so I don't see it's a problem.

It isn't used heavily so I just clean the barrel and give it a wipe over every time I use it, then give it a full strip down every 3 months or so.

Fair enough mate! I have always like the premium maxus, certainly a gun I'd consider adding to the cabinet in the future!

Yes, that doesn't sound good at all!! It must have been a bad one to have a full and literal 'field' strip :s

I've got an sx3 and don't go below 28s either, can't see the point of I'm honest.

I'm loving my Benelli M2, the more I use a semi auto the more I like them. So quick to point or change direction and don't punish you if you shoot lots.

Wish we got with Europe thought wise for game shooting with a semi auto.

Got quite a few semi autos in the family:

Browning 2000 x2, still think they are one of the best autos ever made!

Browning auto 5 x3, a 1958 12, a 1930 12 and a virtually unused 1960 20 bore. Still on the lookout for a mint 16 bore.

Browning b80 20 bore which my dad uses.

Browning fusion 20 bore used by my sister.

Browning maxus synthetic which is my pigeon and vermin gun. Just sold my premium version also.
