hoggysreels
Just a thought! ... AYA seems to have suited you, possibly consider a new or newer AYA ... cheers
welshwarrior
28' barrelled aya no2 are great guns
theshootist
A modern gun at that price would be a second hand beretta silver hawk 471, but you could get a great english boxlock so why not decide on your spec and pick one? Nice greener facile princeps?
figgy
A nice second hand Arrietta or another AYA the model 53 is nice. Figgy

DazzJo
Stick with the Spanish mate AyA all the way!!
Cambsman
Why would you want o change the AYA? A short barrelled sxs is a delight in my mind for driven game. Choke sounds fine. Does it feel right? Do you hit he birds? What's the issue? Forget fads n stuff and enjoy you gun. Just my tuppence worth.
jgguinness
28' barrelled aya no2 are great guns28 foot barrels, be like swinging a scaffy pole On a more serious note, I am a big fan of AYA's. What's wrong with your 26" barrel No.2? I have a matched pair of AYA XXV 25" barrel guns that I'm looking after for a mate that I'm considering making an offer on. Markt3815
Yeh fancy a 28" barrell aya, seem to be pricking a lot of birds around 35 40yds especially with open choke..

You possibly would do, that's quite open at that distance. Have a pop at a pattern plate, piece of paper and see what you have. It might just be the root of your problem. I believe its why most fixed choke are 1/4 and 1/
JohnfromUK
Another vote for AyA. There should be plenty of No 2's around at that price. I have a 28" barrelled AyA and it handles very nicely. I also have an (custom for a previous owner) AyA with both 28" and 30" interchangeable barrels - and I prefer the 28". If you can stretch a bit further, the No 1 can sometimes be found for around £3 to 3.5K. Very similar to a No 2, but slightly lighter in the barrels as made from a different steel - and usually better wood - and a bit more engraving. CharlesP
Another vote for a Greener Facile Princeps. Your budget at Holt's would buy you a rather nice one, with finish, engraving, and indeed wood of a very high standard. Not just Greener, of course. Churchill, Lang, Westley Richards, all sorts of famous names. Don't expect multi chokes, of course!
Ttfjlc
Well within your budget and a great gun (I know as I own one) would be a Webley & Scott
jgguinness
Thanks missed ' meant 28" Haha was only pulling your leg mate. There was a pizza shop near where I used to live, and on their illuminated menu board they were selling 16' pizzas. I asked the kid behind the counter how he managed to deliver a 16 foot pizza on a scooter, but he just looked more baffled?
Bungle The Bear
My money would be on an Arrietta crown "round action" beautifuly finished guns, or an AYA - spanish guns are so underrated, in saying that english boxlocks are the bargain of the century at the moment - with that sort of budget you could have something very nice - Beretta silver Hawks are OK "I had one" but not in the same league as an AYA / Arrietta - just my opininion though, the new Beretta parallelo round action is vey nice - I would fancy trying one of them.
