Hoggs of Fife

They are based just along the road from me and their stuff is generally really good quality. I have one of their FieldPro tweed shooting jackets and it is very well made. I also have a tweed suit from them too and again it is very well made.

Their retail shop is www.fifecountry.co.uk and they sell a much wider range of manufacturers clothing too, but they are the same business.

I would have no hesitation in ordering from them, my experience of their clothing and boots is good. They are also nice people who run the business, I have been in the shop and the factory many times and always a good experience.

What I would say is that if you compared someone like musto or schoffel their tweeds are much finer, but of course are also much more expensive. Hoggs seem to be very functional and robust, maybe not so much elegant and sophisticated.

I'm not planning to get "tweeded" up, I'm not sure how many times I would get to wear it. Plan is to get some moleskin breeks, a nice shooting jacket (not camo like my current one), a nice shirt, waistcoat and jumper.

I just want to have some more presentable clothes for when I do get a chance for this kind of thing. I generally pigeon shoot, and though I dress reasonably smart, it's not what I would want to turn up in to a formal shoot......

Fair enough, I am a tweedy *** most of the time even when it is absolutely nothing to do with shooting !!

If you like what you see online and the prices are good then go for it, the quality should not be a problem.

Thanks for your help!!!

Anyone know what the sizing is like for jackets.... the tweed ones? In Barbour I am a large and in Seeland an XL as they come in small. Some sites say Hoggs come in at L= 41 to 43 and XL 44 to 46. but dont want it to be too roomy and bag like so pondering on the large at the mo..... Would be an online purchase.

Give them a call and they will measure each item requested for you. I bought on line and after speaking to them on the phone they measured the trousers for me before despatch and they were perfect.from Auntie.

No probs thanks......

Meant to add to the thread..... I am a fan of their moleskin breeks great quality and hardwearing for 40ish quid a good buy.

Not everyones cup of tea but Sportsmans gun centre alwayus have some dirt cheap offers on depending on ur size. And i've never had any bother wi them

I have had a few pairs of the Dunbar breeks and they are quite queer looking but are pretty waterproof and brair resistant and easily cleaned if in the back of a landy stuffed full of dogs.

But otherwise Hoggs stuff is decent quality for the money
