Flashman
The link doesn't work, but I saw the article the other day. It looks a bit like a similar-shaped car finished off with cheap Halfords aftermarket kit. A good copy in poor light, but I bet it looks shoddy up close. Like most Chinese cars. Nial
It's good that LR are doing well with the Evoque, but it's an incredible amount of money for a car that doesn't look like it's got a lot of room inside. Anybody got one? Nial
Tim85
Im waiting for them to start bashing out a Defender when JLR stop making them next year! The Evoque is a ladies 4x4 really, an to say 4x4 is a push, yes its 4 wheel drive..... like the panda 4x4 is but its a posers motor.

Don't really fancy the Evoque. It looks like something squashed the back down. Edited November 25, 2014 by loriusgarrulus

JimLondon
I've driven the evoque the new range, and the disco 4 and for my money the disco 4 was by far the nicest drive out of the three.

The old Panda had a 4x4 system built by Steyr Puch and is pretty good. An Italian friend has one and it's the perfect bit of kit for getting around his village and environs during the winter up in the Dolomites when it's been snowing. Mentalmac
My colleague has an Evoque, I had a little go, not bad really - feels deceptively big when driving (well then I am 5ft 5 so guess most things feel big, never driven a motor where I wasn't at the front of the seat moving rails). Les*1066
I'm sure the Chinese are really wetting themselves over any threats of legal action - not. It's strange that they can manage to trim £30,000 off the price and still show a profit, isn't it. And I'm sure the quality of the copy is every bit as good as the original, too. Chris Bb
Im waiting for them to start bashing out a Defender when JLR stop making them next year! I believe JLR have plans to move production to the far east. However, vehicles mad there will not be allowed to be imported into Europe courtesy European legislation. It's strange that they can manage to trim £30,000 off the price and still show a profit, isn't it. And I'm sure the quality of the copy is every bit as good as the original, too. Are they making a profit or merely building a market; there are items on eBay where the postage must cost more than the total price. Also, as has been said, quality is currently questionable. Jega
To be honest i struggle to tell most cars apart these days without looking at the badge first ,put a V.W.Passat ,Ford Mondeo,Audi A4,B.M.W. 3series ,and Saab 95 in a line without the badges and i reckon most people would struggle to tell them apart. bakerboy
Seeing some of the pitiful corrosion problems on Great Wall Steeds, i dont think anyone will be beating a path to chinese ****, what do they make that is good, or more correctly, not a bulk disposable item like phones and tablets No worries with the warranty they offer, is it 3 or 5 years? There is not a sign of it on mine, where should I be looking?
sishyplops
I worked in heavy engineering sales , and some products were produced from China (as opposed to Germany ) although the cnc machines were the same ,the tools , dies etc were again all the same as they were shipped there from the German plant, the end product was simply not as good and the reason for that is they use local materials ie it is not viable to ship steel to China so they use local made steel which just isn't as good. The product is cheaper because of local labour costs although this is rising and the cost of the cheaper local materials.
