malantone
CZ 452 .22lr if you want to eat/sell the rabbits either .22 or hmr if you just want them dead, the .22 is a lot cheaper to feed. wymberley
cheers, any perticular rifle Whatever takes your fancy but for overall use probably a bolt action.
spanj
Whatever takes your fancy but for overall use probably a bolt action. I'd go with this. The CZ do get a good rep and are relatively cheap. Personally I rate my Ruger M77 although they dont appear to be that common Edited February 19, 2015 by spanj
Underdog
One that fits you well and has a good trigger. Not many 22 refuse to shoot good.
Salop Matt
Horses for corses ! depends on the land and the surrounding area ! Any info on the land layout , surroundings and ground type or any special requirements ? CZ 452 .22lr if you want to eat/sell the rabbits either .22 or hmr if you just want them dead, the .22 is a lot cheaper to feed. I have sold many rabbits shot with my HMR, any rimfire with a head shot is suitable for sellable bunnys.
Mentalmac
It depends on the land you are shooting, what type of shooting etc.... the .22 versus HMR argument is very old on here :-)
rangey
anyone give advice on what rifle is better for shooting rabbits,ie hmr or .22,many thanks my personel preference is a modified 10/22 semi to start with then bring out the cz hmr when they get a bit jumpy and nail em at long range
snipers eye
i sold my hmr and kept my cz .22 452,as i do alot of night shooting, the 22 is way quieter, and cheaper,

Guest stevo
Your shoot 10 times more with a moderated. 22lr . And if you know you rifle you can go out to 120 yrds using eley subs quite comfortably.
superspark
My 22 moderated with subsonic ammo every time
Shropshire_Lad
I have had both and shot way more second and third Rabbits off the spot with the HMR.
Paddy Galore!
I fell back in love with the hmr last year, I had loads more rabbits using that compared to the 22lr.
welshwarrior
IMHO everyone should have a 22lr in the cabinet, yes the HMR is a good tool but I'd get rid of mine long before the 22lr.

Macca72
Cz 452 American 22 fantastic kit it would be a long time before i change it
joe soapy
If lots of bunnies and tame, a 10/22 will serve well. when it gets more challenging, go for the HMR
psycho
Hmr more range than a .22 and can be used against close range fox the best most versatile round for ranges from 10-140 yards I always thought .22 was good until I used .17hmr I have now sold all of my .22 apart from my target rifles
Psyxologos
.22 or .17hmr. I would look at CZ. Great rifles at a very reasonable price.
Muddy Funker
If it can be only 1 rifle it has to be the 22.Can't say anywhere I shoot would be too happy with the hmr at night it's a bit of a cracker. What you lose slightly in range on the 22 you make up for in versatility. Apply for both.
Salop Matt
For me the noise isnt an issue, but a round zingin off into goodness knows where, no matter how carefull you are with backstop was a real issue for me !
