kiffy
for me its a semi auto, its the safest by far.. with on over/under or side by side you have to break them to load and close and if you have a dog or someone in the hide with you the muzzle could face them when you close it. with a semi auto as long as you still have one shot in the chamber you can out the two carts in with the gun facing in a sace direction
rabbiter
same as anyother I would say,as long as it fits and you can shoot well with it....DAZ
Scully
with a semi auto as long as you still have one shot in the chamber you can out the two carts in with the gun facing in a sace direction This was one of the reasons I liked my Browning 2000 so much. You could empty it and still load it with the muzzle pointing at the sky because of the speed loading mechanism. Great design.

Daz Harrison
i was thinking you would all say a short barrel
Scully
i was thinking you would all say a short barrel Mates Beretta 301(?) has a very short barrel. Very nice in a hide. My 1500 XTR is about as long as the proverbial drainpipe and swings like a dream.
Richie092
Is the Beretta 301 a 24" barrel?
Suffolkngood
If auto and everyone says the advantage is that you can load with barrels pointing skywards why would barrel length matter in that instance? I had a 30" 391 and never had an issue with it in the hide. Shoot what fits you and you shoot well with. theshootist
I like my browning pump shotgun because unlike my browning gold empties are ejected to my feet rather than thrown in all directions.
vmaxphil
Semiauto for the hide, sxs for a walk around

jeffjjack
Mossberg 500, cheap cheerful, tough as old boots, very rarely jams or has issues, 3 shots, easily reloads in tight spaces. No graded walnut that I'll get really peed off scratching! Love my 20, really enjoy shooting it.
malkiserow
I would say a "cheap one"

I also shoot with a 30" auto.maxus with speed load.barrel length makes no difference in a hide, just preference
Scully
Is the Beretta 301 a 24" barrel? Not sure, sorry. But it's a lot shorter than my Winchester.

Richie092
Not sure, sorry. But it's a lot shorter than my Winchester. No worries. I have been looking at one in my local in 24" and it's a lovely gun. Might treat meself although Malkiserow rings true with a "cheap one"

arjimlad
A SBS is usually light and easier to reload than OU in a hide as you don't need to open it as far. Easier to pick up empty cartridges than an auto too. AYA Yeoman?
Cosd
Semi auto. Fast loading, don't need to break it and the extra shot is handy on busy days.
