Vince Green
Yes very sad, not much doubt the demon drink played its part. He was very open about his drink problems which is to be admired. A very clever man who could have done so much more
keg
Incredibly bright and in many ways a better public face than Cleggy. Leaves a 10 yr old. Very sad.
Aled
Sad news indeed. Another politician with a bit of personality gone. Aled
Scully
A seemingly nice man with a good sense of humour. I feel great sympathy for those he has left behind, especially a young child.

ditchman
never did like his politics...............but he always struck me of BEING A DECENT PERSON.........and that says something about him as he worked in Westminster................drink can be an awful thing................Rest in Peace
Gordon R
His politics were not mine, but I did admire the man. Ten times the politician that Nick Clegg is or ever will be. I feel sorry for friends and family - no age at all.
FarmerSim
A very young age, and a terrible loss for his family, friends and for politics too. RIP.
spinach
But for the grace of God. Far too young. John.
Big Al
He will be missed - he was one of the good guys in politics. Sure, he had his personal flaws, but don't we all? I feel for his family and especially his young son.
lord_seagrave
A shambolic drug abuser - hanging's too good for 'em I say. LOL - sorry, wrong thread. RIP Charlie boy, thank goodness your weapon of choice was a legal one or the PW Massive would be dancing on your grave. Savhmr
Very sad news, RIP Charles, and my thoughts are with his family. I always remember the article written by Littlejohn for a paper column where he was invited to Alistair Campbell's gaff for a dinner party, by way of introduction to a lesser well known backbencher, Tony Blair promoted then to shadow something or other). present was Charles Kennedy and a few other media types and political commentators. Littlejohn had just made a witty remark that had a few of them in tears when asked something by Blair and when he turned sideways to see Charles Kennedy's reaction, he was face down asleep in his fish pie after imbibing too much Chablis! A real character and one of the few decent politicians imho who believed passionately in fair play and in his own brand of politics, and one who tended to avoid slinging a lot of political mid about. He'll be much missed I'm sure.
