A.J.P.
Hi guys, I'm considering the purchase of a new (or new to me) O/U shotgun, for use in clay target shooting. I'm hoping to get some advice from the members here as to what guns exist with either plain receivers, or receivers with more contemporary engraving - similar to the Browning Cynergy. The guns I'm aware of are as follows: Benelli 828u Beretta 686 White Onyx Sporting Beretta 690 Black Edition Blaser F3 Browning 725 Black Browning Cynergy Weatherby Orion I Webley & Scott 900 Series Any advice or further recommendations would be great. Cheers, Adam Edited August 6, 2015 by A.J.P.
bostonmick
The dt10 has a plain action. As does the 692. However the list you have I would suspect all fit differently.
Wiggum
The beretta 686e Evo is quite plain when it comes to engraving

Scully
I much prefer plain actions on o/u's with minimal engraving, and you can add to the list : Beretta 682 Supersport (plain black) Renato Gamba Daytona (plain black or silver) and many Perazzis and some plain black older Brownings which I saw at the CLA but can't remember the model type.....B25 ? or something along those lines. I remember thinking they looked very nice. Winchester 8500 (plain black with gold outline) and Winchester 6500 (plain silver) neither of these has a gold trigger which I always find preferable also. The DT10 is a gorgeous gun.
ChrisAsh
Exactly the opposite I only like guns with a bit of engraving, otherwise they just look boring like the just could not be bothered to make it look good
bluesj
Fabarm do a few with minimal engraving, and good guns for the price
Westward
The non game scene model of the SV10 Prevail 3 has no engraving and likewise the Prevail I ProSport. There's also the DT11 which has minimal decoration.

A.J.P.
Thank you all for your input - it's very much appreciated. As of now, I'm leaning towards the new Browing Cynergy Sporting with adjustable comb and 30" barrels. I'm also very interested in the Benelli 828u, if for no other reason than the novelty of its design. Cheers to everyone.
fortune
Why are you thinking about what engraving is on a gun action for?
A.J.P.
Why are you thinking about what engraving is on a gun action for? I'm sorry - could you clarify your question? If you're asking why receiver engraving is of concern to me, it's because I don't particularly like traditional scrollwork - at least on a gun that I'm paying for. I would much prefer a plain receiver if given the choice. Edited August 7, 2015 by A.J.P.
Will Poon
Perazzi MX8 has a plain receiver.
Kalahari
Get the one in your price range that fits. Can't see the engraving when you are shooting. Or at least if you do you may need lessons! David.
littlerob
Baikal lol but not up there in the finest of prestige brands. Plain as it gets and tought and works for a life time
countryman
Just be a little cautious on the Benelli, its a new design with the top lever setting the Ejectors, it will probably be fine but you can get teething problems. figgy
The cynergy is not longest lasting of guns. Back to front hinging action. Get out and try as many as you can.
