In all honesty I have only limited experience of Boston and that was the Hospital there so shouldn't really comment.... Oxfordshooter
Top of the Hub restaurant and bar is worth checking out. Great views of the city as you're up on the 82nd floor.

Oxfordshooter
After you've seen everything you want to see then remember it's really easy to get to New York for an overnight stay from Boston, the journey is less than three hours by train. Konnie
Depends on time of year, cauli cutting or Brussel picking are available as day trips.

Duckandswing
Cheers bar, all the parks, coffee shops. And get down the Irish bars. Huge Irish contingent in Boston and they love a drink.
tx4cabbie
There's a range not a million miles from there where you can hire pistols and full auto smgs. As we don't play with those anymore, that's where I'd go
Tim Kelly
If you've got a car, drive down to Cape Cod and if you do nothing else, go whale watching out of Province Town. Completely brilliant getting close to the whales. Love that part of the world, but prefer getting out of the cities.
Chris Bb
whale watching You can do that in ASDA without flying 3,000 miles

guzzicat
Hope you have better luck at Cape Cod than we did, cold, wet & the worst place we have ever stayed in U/S, "The Belfry" an old church, & on the run down we drove over ( not squashing ) a dead skunk it stunk the car out for ages. But our stay at the "Langholm" in Boston made up for that. Enjoy all of it.
NickS
Got lobstah! You can take a whale-watching trip from Boston. The Cheers Bar is a bit of a non-event but Legal Seafoods is pretty good. Wander the Freedom Trail which covers a lot of the historical sights. The USS Constitution is the oldest warship in commission that is still afloat and the WW2 era Fletcher class destroyer are worth visiting if you are interested in naval history. I would recommend a trip to Lexington and Concord too - you can cycle the route taken by the Regulars when they marched out of Boston against the Colonials. The road has been restored back to pretty much how it would have been when Gen. Gage's men encountered the Minutemen and it is very atmospheric. Stand on the Old Town Bridge and realise that this is where it all kicked off and visit the visitors' centre along the road for an interesting (and free) presentation. The Colonial Inn, Concord is a good base or just somewhere to eat. To shop, head north into New Hampshire with its zero sales tax. Portsmouth and Strawberry Banke is an easy drive, on the border with Maine. On the Cape, you can take a ferry to Provincetown from Boston or drive. PTown is family friendly but not a place for homophobes!! Plymouth is worth a stop if you do and want to break your journey. There are some very picturesque towns that are nothing like their English namesakes. Chatham, with its famous lighthouse, is very attractive and Barnstable has a nice restaurant built out over the harbour. We have spent a few summers in the area and just thinking about it makes me want to go back. Have a great trip!
