UKPoacher
As has been said; there are elections in France and Germany next year. Merkel is reasonably safe, but she may lose some seats to the far right wing parties and that will sway her policies in the same way that UKIP influenced Tory policies as reflected in the referendum. In France Hollande is a dead duck. He has alienated virtually everybody including his grass roots union supporters. Last time around his party and the conservatives made a pact whereby they only fielded one candidate between them at each constituency that might have gone to the far right FN party. By not contesting the seats they effectively squeezed out the FN. This time though that arrangement is unlikely.

UKPoacher
Definitely. Even out here in the sticks there is growing resentment about the EU. We were at a lunch hosted by the Chasse (Hunters) after the referendum and I had asked to be seated next to the French diners instead of being lumped in with all the Brits as is normal. All the old French folk we were talking to were congratulating us on the result and many hoped that France would get their chance to leave. The EU is seen as sick and corrupt and now that the farmers aren't getting the same subsidies they have no need to accept the unpopular measures imposed by Brussels. They are also worried about losing the British market and fishing grounds. Sarkozy has already said that he will bring back powers from Brussels regards immigration. As we already know, this cannot be done. Dodgy Dave was sent back with his tail between his legs when he asked for the same. So if Sarkozy doesn't deliver the FN will get even more votes next time around. The French equivalent of the Labour Party are dead in the water so the NF will get votes this time around and probably be poised to make greater inroads when or if Sarkozy fails to deliver on his promises. It is a bit like the UK situation last time around. Edited November 9, 2016 by UKPoacher

Double-crossing him and then throwing a paddy doesn't look so smart now, does it Wee Jimmie Krankie? Perhaps she will demand another vote because they don't like that result either... Danger-Mouse
Personally I think it was Good Old Nige that swung it for him... It certainly wasn`t Nicola Sturgeon, who had to order a lovely bowl of humble porridge this morning prior to calling Donald up to offer her congratulations. I am sick and fed up with the BBC both radio and TV it seems that they are going out of there way to get people on to say that TRUMP is a disaster why should I think that they would do anything other when you look at what they did with the BREXIT vote.
