silver pigeon69
As title says, does any one know what this is? It was found on the beach (by a neighbour) near to Hastings. wymberley
Not clear - bloated? But the back-end looks decidedly seal like.

UKPoacher
A goby. Well, every time someone posts a picture of a sea fish the answer is always a goby.

steve_b_wales
The mouth is almost identical to that of a short-finned Pilot Whale. Google it and check it out.
SuperGoose75
We get Pilot Whale's beaching themselves from time to time.It certainly looks to be the shape and size of one but I wouldn't be 100% sure.
Highlandladdie
Certainly looks like a cetacean. Has your friend contacted anyone like the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Trust? I bet they'd be interested in that. They'd take samples and tell you definitively.
12gauge82
I was listening to radio 4 the other day and there's been a huge number of dolphins and whales beaching lately and they're trying to find out why. I'm sure someone will be interested if you can find the right body to report it to.
silver pigeon69
I took a walk down the beach and found it. 95% sure its a "Short fin Pilot Whale" Its teeth are badly worn and broken so imagine it was an old one. Thanks for the responses Edited January 23, 2017 by silver pigeon69

silver pigeon69
It will be interesting to see if we get a call at work to get rid of it i can give you a very precise location if you need it, but you'd probably be able to smell it from quite a way off. Its in front of Fairlight. Out of interest how would you remove it? by boat? dont think you could get a vehicle near it? Edit: Was it in USA/Australia where they filled one with explosives and blew it up? Edited January 23, 2017 by silver pigeon69

It would be up to the council to get it off the beach, I think the last one we had in they dragged up the beach with a digger. Not sure what they did with the sperm whale that washed up at pevensey a few weeks ago but it never got to us
