Lloyd90
After some cartridges for some pigeon and crow shooting, I've not done much of it before and have recently joined a club so will pick up a slab. Looking for something around 28g of number 6 (unless you'd recommend otherwise?) Will be for pigeon and crows. Thanks Lloyd

kyska
I have no idea, I use a leather bag full of stuff, if I hit the birds they fall out of the sky.
Guest stevo
Just grab yourself some 7.5 and tighten your chokes up. If poss get some Italian 7.5 they will be an English 7. You really don't need any bigger than that. It's only a crow 😂

Wilksy II
If I could afford too I'd use 29g 6's hull super fast think they've stuck pigeon on the side of them now, great cartridge!

A decent trap cartridge will kill most things at sensible range. Edited June 2, 2017 by aga man
figgy
Go into your local gun shop and buy whatever you like the look and price of. If it's got pigeon in the name it's a clue.

JRDS
81 yards!? Think I'd better get some. The only cartridge review that I've ever read that didn't mention shot size. I hadn't read the review was just using the link to show the cartridge. They are a 29GRM No 6 shot load and are an excellent cartridge at a good price. Stonepark
At 60 yards and full choke with pigeon power you are only looking at 88 pellets at best. Pattern is woefully inadequate for pigeon. With 29g of true no6, anything beyond 45 yards is relying on chance rather than pattern to kill. As for 80 yards........... As suggested previously, 28g fibre continental no7.5 clay cartridge is the way to go. I'm using fiocchi's at the moment due to price. I can't be the only bloke to remember that when you walked into the local hardware store and asked if they had any 2&3/4" fibre 1&1/8 or 1&1/16 oz No 7s, you were answered by another question, "how many of which do you want?" Surely, with the majority of guns now being made with 3" (76mm) chambers, some outfit producing a half decent load as above at a half decent price, would do well out of it. Express come close with their 2&1/2" offerings, but could try harder.
dodeer
I have always been quite a fan of a 26-30g load of 6.5/7 going quite fast. World Cup / Soverign Parcous/ CSP 6.5 take some beating on birds. For average birds and decoying then a clay 7/7.5 fibre makes an ideal cartridge. JRDS
However, they are No 5s English. Says 6 on the cartridge and their website, they are loaded in the UK why would they not be what they say they are? Still a decent cartridge whatever the shot size. http://www.lyalvaleexpress.com/product/pigeon-power-29-grams-2/ Edited June 3, 2017 by JRDS

Still a decent cartridge whatever the shot size. http://www.lyalvaleexpress.com/product/pigeon-power-29-grams-2/ Yep. But I have a silly habit of wanting to know what I'm buying. Didn't help when I read this from one of their main retail outlets: Lyalvale Express Pigeon Power Plastic Wad Cartridges. "High performance pigeon and vermin cartridge with plastic wad, designed for optimum lethality. Ideal choice for semi-autos and roost shooting. The cartridges are loaded with 29 gram load in continental shot size 6 for optimum speed and lethality. Box of 25 game cartridges, 12 gauge." Looked good as I was after something for longish range rooks so rang Express who kindly confirmed that they were 5s so I got some. Being nosey, I opened a couple. Yep, 5s on the nose and good quality shot. Edit: PS To answer your question, see the BREXIT thread on this sub forum.
