Cosd
Needing PW massive options again.... Having had two mid range Karchers and both failing after few years with relatively light use for washing cars and the yearly patio clean, both seem to me to die prematurely. Circa £200’ish, what should I go for? New house has a large patio, so nothing too small, but am not wanting an industrial petroleum machine either. Options so far: Karcher K4 Full Control which is higher end to what I’ve previously owned https://www.johnlewis.com/karcher-k4-full-control-home-pressure-washer/p2431162?sku=235540405&s_kwcid=2dx92700020349943580&tmad=c&tmcampid=2&gclid=CjwKCAiApo3SBRA4EiwAty8i-u0jZguCk6syAwFnOHylJ7bER8nuoWQW5B-RNhLOB0YTyWBdvYTbDRoCwYcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds Sthil https://www.toolbritannia.co.uk/garden-tools--machinery-z/watering-products-z8/stihl-re109-240v-pressure-washer~stitre109?gclid=CjwKCAiApo3SBRA4EiwAty8i-qkOpFjZE0QZehCrQOuSb98PLNGh0RVDLsXv8ZfslgoYU9Hu-vnCVRoC38UQAvD_BwE Nilfisk http://www.cleanstore.co.uk/products/Product.asp?ID=13384&?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=comparsionshopping&gclid=CjwKCAiApo3SBRA4EiwAty8i-o2i3qfEnjhIvmVrDuibhvJWRhqKn2KDXF2keshP8JQuxw765RlmCBoC-jUQAvD_BwE Edited December 27, 2017 by Cosd

B&W FOX
http://www.argos.co.uk/product/1577941 Nilfisk Titan 120 absolutely fantastic, highly recommended. The rotary brush on patios is great
Medic1281
I’ve got a nilfisk and can’t fault it, but it’s light domestic use only that I use it for. Also use a commercial nilfisk at work that doesn’t seem to have many problems.
Marccus
The Nilfisk everytime. Far superior quality than the karcher. Buy one you won't regret it.
scotslad
I've just got a cheap and cheerful screwfix special, a titan, was only 50-60 quid with a load of attachments and really is pretty good. I've used it quite a lot (prob more than just a hobby use, sometimes for hours at a time) over the past 4-5 years and it does wot it needs too, it came with a rotary brush thing which is far better for patios than I ever expected it to be. My brother has an even cheaper unbranded washer and god knows how old it is and still going strong, in fact I preferred it to my dads top end matika model. Sometimes/usually u get wot u pay for, but sometimes with washers for occasional use ur just as well with a cheapy I wouldn't touch a karcher, a decent local company stopped stocking them years ago as sick of decent customers coming in after buying a decent/expensive/ even pro model and a few years later they had altered the model so could no longer get any spares for it and were told to buy a new
Dougy
Nilfisk vets my vote. Karcher don't seem to be as good as they used to be.

Im draw n to the Sthil from a brand perspective, I don't know anything they do badly, but the cost is higher than the Nilfisk for example for the same presure ratings. I know I don't need high power for the cars, but the extra power when it comes to patio cleaning means you get the job done that much quicker. WIll do more research though.... Thanks
39TDS
Cheapest Nilfisk you can find. Mine does tractors, machinery, trucks etc etc. If it lasts two years (it is 3 now) it is £25 a year. For your patio hire one if you feel the need (the £50 Nilfisk will do it) If you want to spend £350 on a Stihl that's fine but the Nilfisk will do the job. haynes
Ive got a stihl 128? I think. Mine Is great but doesn' get half the use my dads one gets. His is the same. His is about 7-8 years old and he uses it on the farm 2 or 3 times a week for washing tractors and the cattle box. Only thing went wrong was an o ring connecting the lance. 2p fix. Oh and it gets no love what so ever. Great piece of kit.

Winston72
i have had a Makita model similar to this for 8 years (this is an updated version mine seems to be obsolete, I clean my patio and drive every week and my car weekly also and boat twice a year, it is still going strong, did have to replace the lance though https://www.ffx.co.uk/tools/product/Makita-Hw132-0088381616966-240V-Pressure-Washer-140-Bar Edited December 28, 2017 by Winston72

Rst1990
You could also get the karcher k4 compact for £150 same motor and power. the older karcher’s suffered from failed pumps due them being used for too longer period, the new style karchers are water cooled so don’t run as hot. I don’t know what models you had and don’t know how long you was using them for. On karchers website it will tell you duration for all models. hope this helps

figgy
Sure I read that the problems with Karchers is not enough use the aluminum piston and cylinder corrode and stick. Using a household product like fabric conditioner or dishwasher stuff sorts most out. Sure it was a post on here by a member who had been given two that didn’t work he had them both up and running in no time. Worth a look before buying another. Found the post it was Ditchman boili Edited December 28, 2017 by figgy

Cosd
Thanks for all the input guys. Reading through all the comments, I'm pretty sure I've eliminated the Karcher. I'll do a little more research and choose whether to go for a Nilfisk or slightly less powerful Stihl. Have narrowed down to these two now..... http://www.cleanstore.co.uk/products/Product.asp?ID=13384&?utm_source=googlebase&utm_medium=comparsionshopping&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4pDDkLev2AIV6b3tCh0oRQBdEAQYAyABEgL7e_D_BwE http://www.sam-turner.co.uk/garden-machinery/stihl-re-119-pressure-washer.html?fo_c=603&fo_k=c4554abd27e9daff38b1515692f2c04d&fo_s=gplauk&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIybS80rev2AIVcxbTCh0HbAP5EAQYASABEgI6__D_BwE#.WkZRn-vyiUk
