Give it 3 months, by that time our real financial situation over energy etc will be revealed. Tens of thousands much worse off? Then attitudes may be up-scaled?

Yes there is a poo storm coming and hopefully a sea change in how people see this subject.   :cool1:

Sadly the way here now, noise, hand wringing  and ineffective blathering being interpreted as action gains them recognition?

I agree the storm is coming but I think those who think immigration is a positive factor and is necessary for some sectors and brings economic benefits will want more ........ and those who see immigration as being a negative and high cost on the economy will want much less.

In a sort of way, both are right;

  • we DO need skilled and semi skilled additional workforce in some areas - care sector and some agriculture, plus some other specialists (possibly medical) - and who want to work here.  In time, we may need less, but we do need them at present.  Most are European and they don't come as potential illegals or asylum seekers.
  • we DON'T need more who want to sit on their backsides and bring up their families at the taxpayers expense.
  • we definately DON'T need any at all who want to come here and attack the society we have either with bombs, knives, terrorism, or with hate preaching.

In other words the vast majority want control of who we want to let in and who we don't, which at the moment the torys and in fairness labour under Blair, have miserably failed to deliver (or in the case of Blair, by design).

We need a new party is what it boils down to. One that actually cares what the overwhelming majority of the country thinks.

This is a repeat theme - and (potentially) I would support them - but only if there was a reasonable chance of them getting in or forming a suitable coalition.  At present there isn't a chance.

Whilst in the past UKIP had a lot of votes - they never won a Westminster parliamentary election (but did very well in European elections).  The current descendent of UKIP doesn't (yet anyway) have even a fraction of the support UKIP used to.

everybody votes for the worst party in existance.....lib-dems...labour.....momentum.........they get to work really screwing up the country............people finally see everything they are doing is starting to directly effect them.....and that will force them to get behind a new party to sort this mess out.........

Been done.  Everybody voted for Blair.

UKIP arrived (partly due to Blair's European leanings) - but they never matured into a Westminster party and we got Cameron and the referendum UKIP wanted.  UKIP fizzled out once the main topic of Brexit was past.

The trouble with UKIP was that it had a good leader but that was all they had. The rest of the party were far below the required standard to carry the party forward in this country.

Agreed - you could argue that the leader had to find, choose and select a team ....... something about which Farage seems to have a 'blind spot'.

Which remains a BIG problem if he is hoping to make yet another comeback.

To see something worth voting for - you need to see a leader backed by a team that you have the confidence could form a cabinet and effectively govern in a joined up fashion .......

At the last election we had;

  • Boris - backed up by what we see in office now (roughly) in Sunak, Truss, Gove, Javid etc on one side - and
  • Corbyn backed up by Abbott, MacDonnell, Burgeon, Raynor, Long Bailey etc.

Is it any surprise we got Boris given that choice?

Now normally I'd agree with this, however things seem to be getting that bad, with the main parties who are so cock sure of themselves that the people won't vote for anyone else, they feel they can ignore what the majority very clearly want, I really don't think there'd be much to loose by giving a wild card party a shot, even if it scared them enough to actually listen for a change, like what happened with ukip and the Brexit referendum.

I noticed the Channel migrant news flow seems to have ceased, so tried to find out if they are still coming.

Trying to find figures wasnt easy , it certainly hasnt stopped, but I did find this https://www.infomigrants.net/en/tag/english channel/

Looks like its going to be a bumper year in 2022 for economic migrants in Europe.

It will not stop until the reasons for it are addressed?

Not very likely till the balloon goes up when services are overwhelmed?

Many services already are .
How long till the 6 million people on hospital waiting lists are seen, how many will die ?
Housing , the current rate of housing being built, most of it unaffordable for the majority at current rates, doesnt even address the backlog of people currently needing homes.

The delicate divide between those working and paying taxes, and those who cannot or will not work, and requiring state benefits, grows ever smaller, what will happen when the hungry mouths bury the working hands ?

Policing, a huge amount of crime is committed by those who have come to this country to settle, its that embarrassing that finding any meaningful stats are made virtually impossible, but a look at the demographic of the prison population gives a rough indication.

Yet , some seem to think that more immigration, legal or illegal is a good thing ?
When our own statisticians and government dont even know how many foreign born people live in this country, how can they even consider this ?
Have you ever heard a lefty , or a member of the opposition, mention that perhaps we need to curtail immigration without some kind of points system, or become harder against illegal entry ?

Its incredibly divisive to believe that, if you believe in lefty ideology/socialism, that means an open border policy which will turn this country into an economically and socially broken backwater.
But if you believe in anything right of centre , and want a robust border, that only lets in genuine refugees, and those that will integrate and contribute to society...You are some kind of knuckle dragging nazi.

As is often said on here , how many is enough ?

This island doesnt have the infrastructure to accommodate any more at this time IMHO, yet still they come.
France has over twice the landmass of the UK , with the same population, a better climate and agriculture opportunities.

It was said recently , that what possesses someone to get into an inflatable boat and cross one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world in winter ?
The answer was , desperation to get to a 'safe' country...The irony of that statement is stunning.

Which is why anyone who cares about the above issues needs to start voting for a different party than Labour or Conservatives.

And they accept 3 times more refugees than the UK so you should increase your numbers to keep up...
