Lloyd90
Is there a set height for shooting sticks that is recommended? I have just bought a beautiful stick as I wanted something nice for hanging the slip and cartridge bag on (although it might be too nice, I will have to see), but it might just be a little bit too tall lol. Check this beauty out though I am hoping the bag and slip will sit on the head easily enough 🤷♂️ I’m not 100% confident to be honest but thought it was too nice to pass up
WalkedUp
I would have a stick so that when holding it a foot and half in front of your feet your elbow isn’t quite open to 90°, that is you still have power in your arm to transfer through the stick whilst striding. Walker570
That is too nice to hang things on. For stalik9ing I always recommended putting your arm arm horizontal to your shoulder and any sticj wihich you could then rest your hand on would work fine to rest your rifle on. A stick for hanging cartridge bags on etc then you need something a little more solid and there are some avaible . I would still be happy to

Walker570
This forum system keeps dleeting all and sections of things I put on. Just saying I would be more than happy to walk out in the field with that stick. Very nice. Bear with me , just returend from seeing my eye surgeon about a cataract and the yes are still fuzzy from the drops. arjimlad
It's beautiful, but I can't see how it would support the slip like a thumbstick does. But then it is rather special, and we know how much you like a duck.
Scully
I have various sticks and no idea what height any of them are. When I used one with my CF rifle I just gripped the stick at whatever height I wanted, and rested the rifle on my thumb. I don’t think you’ll be able to hang anything from that stick unfortunately. Old farrier
Turn it upside down and hold it in your hand arm to your side elbow bent at 90 degrees mark at the top of your hand that’s the length to cut it too. fit your ferrule and job done
London Best
I always understood a thumb stick should come up to your nipple. That duck stick is for posing around game fairs.

Very much personal choice and use. Recently made one for a pal and he wanted it shoulder height.

Possibly not but I think I will still enjoy it if that is the case I may consider shortening it to more of a walking stick and giving it to my dad. Sadly his mobility has really declined but he is refusing to use any sort of aid, perhaps such a nice stick would entice him.

Old Boggy
I think that I read somewhere that a thumb stick should be at armpit height. That’s the height that I make my sticks and it seems to work for me. OB
