ninjaferret
Looking for a new truck, not brand new, just new to me. Do i go for another Hilux or an Amarok ? Anyone had both to give a fair comparison ?

adzyvilla
My farmer mate loves his amarok (14 plate 2l tdi). Its light years ahead of his old 3l ranger. The auto is very smooth and pulls well good for towing and is the top spec so luxurious inside. Probably a nicer place to be than a hilux, but little to choose from in terms of reliability and ability. I have heard that the v6 amaroks are problematic. Cawdor118
I don't know anyone that does serious work without a Hilux.

alastair0903
Personally have put 50000 miles on a 2l auto Amarok and have been very please with it. When I brought mine the Amarok auto box was streets ahead of the auto in the hilux.
Jim Neal
A mate has an Amarok but he won't even get it muddy, he uses his employer's L200 instead! I think the Amarok has to get a few years older before it really starts getting abused in the field and tested properly. Conversely, you know where you stand with a Hilux. I know what I'd choose. jeffgg
An Amarok went through the farmers hedge last week folded like tinfoil wrote off. I have seen Hilux go through hedges down banks and just carry on

DannyS
I would say if you spend a lot of time on road and towing the anorak is decent but if you'll be getting it muddy as well - hard to look past the hilux.
