Just returned from a very enjoyable week in Blackpool. have had a week there every year for yonks. Almost empty hotel with great basic food but plenty of it! The new Blackpool lights are awesome. Gone are the old illuminations and the new ones are well worth seeing. The HOT ICE show is also worth the effort.  Called in at Mr Kranks emporium on the way home for a years supply of black powder and shot and apart from a two hour delay on the M6 going due to a fatal crash all went well. Might just be our last visit. I now find the driving a bit of a strain. At least we have been there done that and got the "T" shirt.

We used to love going to Blackpool with another couple every year before the kids came . Infact the fair fortnight it was more like home with all the weegies that where there saw a diffrent act every night some of the well known ones now and every other building was a greasy spoon where as said  basic grub but cheap and plenty of it

Only a minor point BUT St Annes and Lytham are two separate towns

Son is based close to blackpool in warton, we pop up to see them and the grandkids regularly, we take the kids to blackpool every now and then they have a great time, a walk along the front, some fish and chips, some coins for the penny machines and they love it, blockpool has no pretentions it's what you make it.

Years ago before we had kids and were still in the Army groups of us would pop to blackpool for the weekend,it was drink, shows and food all weekend with cheap accomodation and a landlady just like in the movies lol.

Blackpool has something for everyone, it's what you make it.
