The can lasted me over 3 years. For general fouling I use GT 85 at around £2 a can.
wisdom
It is for plastic fouling there's just some I cannot shift with a phosphor bronze brush and legia spray. Thanks for the quick response.I have some GT 85 for my bike, didn't think about it for guns.
archi
I have started to use the Napier spray and it seems to do a good job
chesterse
I have used Phillips for plastic fouling and found it it be very effective but best left to soak in for a while before brushing through.

Westley
The last can I bought was in Aldi and it was £1.99. That was back in March or April. I bought 2 cans and I am still on the first can. I use Cheddite cartridges, which I find are particularly clean and usually 1 sweep through with the bronze brush, followed by a Napier Ultra Clean patch, job done. After every 5/6 outing, I give the barrels a squirt of 85 and leave them for 10 minutes before shoving some loo paper through, followed by the usual clean. TIGHTCHOKE
The Phillips Barrel Cleaner is useful in its aerosol form for an annual good clean through and to remove heavy plastic fouling. Only needs to be used very sparingly though.

cardigun
Phillips Aerosol is particularly good for removing leading. I did a test on two saucers of lead shot. One filled with Phillips, and the other with Hoppes . After two days the Phillips saucer was filled with a grey sludge, and the Hoppes saucer was filled with shiny lead shot ! My 725 clay buster was heavily lead soiled when I bought it ( might be a post on hear about it ) can of the above Phillips stuff light squirt on lead fouling and left to soak about an hour a small squirt: spray on phosphorus bronze brush with other end of cleaning rod in makita cordless ( slow speed ) Gently work the bronze bush over the fouling! job done ! Agriv8 I have always used the above method for cleaning badly fouled barrels, thankfully not too often. However I have just replaced the empty aerosol can of Phillips and got a shock at the price. As the last one had done 5 years, I don't suppose I can complain ! 😄
Agriv8
I had a can of the original 303 oil that had passed through 3 generations was not used often but for that once a year clean. certainly after using some vintage alpha max shells now there’s a smell that takes me back 40 some years ! Agriv8 We are spoilt these days with the lagera spray that cleans oils and doesn’t rot wood
Taileron
My MK70 is particularly bad for lead and plastic fowling when using fast cartridges. I always use Phillips and find it very good. A quick squirt, leave to soak whilst cleaning the action, then rod with a tornado brush. A word of caution, it eats through the oil finish and lacquer if even the smallest amount gets on your wood and turns black polymer stocks white in an instant. Westley
I never leave the barrel/s on a gun to clean it anyway.

London Best
Payne Galway are also made from Phosphor Bronze, but have many more bristles. If you can’t shift fouling gat yourself a Tornado brush, problem solved.
