Zeroing my scope in.

Hi gang.

Set up a ft square board yesterday with a target pinned to it. Sat about 35 yds away with my .22 457 and Simmons scope and fired 10 shots

and completely missed with all 10 shots.  How on earth can you miss a ft square board at that distance ?.

Anyway after a bit of twiddling with dials i finally sorted it. So will zero it for 50 yds next week.

Anyone got an answer to the missing ?. All smart sarcastic replies gratefully accepted 😂.

                                                                    Thanks all.

Start @10 yds with the scope centered (turn the elevation dial from one end to the other and put it in the middle, same with windage).

Always aim at the same centre 1" square/spot...
Get 3 shots into/just below the centre
Move the board to 20 yds - get 2 shots into center
Move to 50 yds - same
Move to 70yds - should be approx 2" low (don't adjust)

Move to 10 yds, should be 1" low (don't adjust)
Move to 35yds should be 1" high (don't adjust)

Rifle/scope zeroed.

Peace of A4 with a black mark on it as target put on some sort of board at about 20 yards gun on a good rest remove bolt bore site look down from bolt end and you should see the mark on the target make sure gun is rock steady in rest then move the cross hairs to the mark on paper and you should be ready to go

Take the bolt out and look down the barrel and find a marker to centre on then look through scope and adjust so you’re looking at that too. Best if you can vice clamp the gun so doesn’t move.

What if it’s a semi 🤔

Just start close and move back is what I do.

stick my 2 pence worth in

if you have attatched a scope to a rifle and you cant even hit a barn door with it first off....

  1. are the scope mounts both the same
  2. are the scope mounts round the same way
  3. is the reticule damaged

if you have a new scope ...new mounts....then at 50 yds you shouldnt be more than 4" off anyway i rekon
