Why do they advertise on T.V. to use the trains? Transpennine, Scotrail for example, when they are all going on strike? Personally i have no need to use them and would sack the lot of them, Whats your views?

Why do they advertise for strokes, my FIL had one and the ambulance was 11 hours.

I don’t actually know anybody who ever goes anywhere on a train.

I use trains quite often, not on a regular basis, but whenever I can if I need to transport work to galleries etc.

None of the strikes affected me but they did my children, one of whom relied on them for work.
The most annoying aspect of the strikes for me is that the strikers inconvenienced those whom relied on them without inconveniencing the only people who could do anything to resolve the issue. 🤷‍♂️

IF I go to London (rare now) - I use the train.  It is expensive but:

  1. Where I occasionally visit in London (two places), one is central and impossible to park,
  2. the second is (a museum in Norwood) is difficult for me to get to (from the west) and parking still difficult.
  3. My car doesn't meet LEZ so I am surcharged for that and (depending on route) congestion charge.
  4. Driving in London I now find (possibly due to lack of familiarity/practice and increasing age) stressful and tiring.
  5. Often long traffic delays on route (Oxford, A40 into London)

Khan would have a heart attack if he knew you were driving around his city in a defender 😂

Yes, and my Defender has been to London, but (I think) only once, years ago because there was heavy snow over the Cotswolds (I've owned this Defender for 27 years).  'Everyday' car is an older (2007) BMW 3 series diesel estate and non ULEZ.

Wonderful vehicles, I had a 200tdi with side exit exhaust, I'll never forget starting it up cold next to a line of people waiting to go into a bank during Covid, the obligitory plume of black smoke on start up left alot of upside down faces, which I stopped and Appoligized for 😅, bit embarrassing but a great vehicle and I always think, considering most defenders made are still on the road despite being over 30 years old, surely that saves a serious amount of carbon from scrapping and making new cars.

Why advertise services that in reality are cr*p? Who benefits?

Media companies, whether papers or online social media greatly benefit and their intention is to try and influence / persuade the general populace that this how things are and how you behave and then take a load of advertising revenue.

Political broadcasts are exactly the same.

Since being classed as a senior we use the trains and buses quite alot as it's cheaper railfares and free buses, which for us are quite reliable and the benefit is that I can have a beer as well!!

I used the trains for commuting for about 15 years and mostly getting there was reliable but coming home that was a lottery. Thankfully I now WFH 🙂
