Fargo
Well half opened me dishwasher earlier and spun round and did something then walked into the door. It’s now bent and won’t close. 145kg vs hotpoint door = no mercy. Anyone know if this sort of thing is repairable or will it be an expensive evening on Curry’s ordering a new one? P.S dishwasher looks minging but my cleaner hasn’t been this week!
TIGHTCHOKE
Good luck with getting that back in line. They are usually built of such thin metal it is now stretched out of shape.

Scully
Sorry, can’t help, have never owned a dishwasher. However, whomever cooks on any given night in this house, doesnt wash the dishes. Works well. 🙂

Going slightly off the original thread , do single people bother with loading up and using a dish washer ? , I have got one but find it easy to wash the crockery and any other items in the bowl with a drop of Fairy over them , unless I have got company ( which I don't get a lot ) I cannot see me bothering to wait until the dish washer have got enough in it to warrant firing it up . Maybe a straight door up for grabs MM

Maybe a straight door up for grabs MM A bit of both. I guess I use it one or twice a week. Sometimes do a 'quick rinse' then add more next day. My dishwasher is a 'narrow' type, so takes less to fill it. Simple meal (e.g. something from the freezer and a few boiled veggies/spuds), usually wash up by hand Lot of cooking, oily pans and plates, lots of 'cooking utensils, plates and bowls', I may use the dishwasher Use it for plates, most cooking things, stainless saucepans, cheap cutlery, those unbreakable, school or works canteen type glasses, cheap knives, Pyrex items. Always hand wash aluminium items, cut glass/crystal, bone china items with 'gold' trim, non stick items, flasks, highly shined cutlery, cooks good grade knives. MM Also guilty I don't understand these things .I lost my job. Due to ill health some years ago. One morning the wife is of to work , I was late. Getting up. Saw the stuff in the washing machine. , thought help out. . Put them all on the line , that can't be to hard to Do. She pops home at lunch time. , hey say I , hung the washing out. She say , i thought you did not know the setting . Says she . What they were. Wet. I hung them out. There not washed, i threw a towel in this morning after. A shower. She. Said. Oh OK. Anyways you have hung things wrong on the line WHAT there's a special way to hang things. Out. So she draws me a picture of how to hang things on the line. 😀😀🙃🙃

Minky
unless you've had a bullock wandering through the kitchen or the kids have been standing on the open door , or the door has been thrown open. numerous times, It is a loose hinge joint or similar. Go to the door and with a hand on either side ,move the door back into it correct position. The door hinge has got to be loose to just flop over like that. By opening the door you will be able to see where that amount of play has come from. almost certainly something has come loose and just need a bit of attention and a tighten up. If you get someone in it will cost you a bomb,. or they'll just tell you that you need a new machine and that will cost you a bomb. Man up and fix it. We're on about our fourth machine over thirty years and they have all been heavily used when the kids were here and even now every other day, and none of them has had the door fall off or get loose. mostly the problems that we have had have been door ribbon cable go down, That's how many times the door has been opened or mechanical timer issues.
