DEFRA are not keen to issue licences to catch signal crayfish because you will take the big adults out of the water. It turns out signal crayfish are cannibalistic and the adults eat their own young and eggs. I think it's a rubbish reason but if you are going to trap them you have to do it to saturation levels over a long time. There are also issues over access to land, trespass, fishing rights etc

I have been twice, I don’t visit Cornwall for the last forty years because of the tourists (of which I would be one myself, obviously). So go out of season. That's what we do. If you can that is. We've just been for a week and it's quiet and more locals about
discobob
Just finished the 4th episode. My God, how hard is that for them? Watching it I felt for them and had tears in my eyes. I think it started as a gimmick (and JC half admitted to that) but it honestly means so much to them now.

We used a 'farrowing crate' system, a bit taboo now for welfare reasons, but the purpose of the crate was to stop the mother squashing the piglets who had an area heated by an infra red heater off to one side. Yes, it is hard, yes, you do need to put in LONG hours, but no, the mortality isn't that high. WE did have a few squashed, a few still births, a few other losses, but at a guess (It's over 50 years ago now) only a few percent. Didn't make much money though! As been said before umpteen times hes highlighted the many many obstacles farmers face to make a profit. 2 hours ago, bruno22rf said: It's not, 4 more on Friday and series 4 confirmed. old'un
Well I watched episode 1 series 3 last night, as Clarkson been told by the producers to act more stupid? I cannot believe the man could not see the blackberry picker would not work on that hedgerow, and a borrowed picker at that, then there was the vacuum, he would have done it quicker picking them by hand, hope the label on the jar stated “may contain insects and other bits of hedgerow” hope the next one is a little more real. Yes I agree and the Hovercraft was straight out of Top Gear. Still a great watch though.

Agriv8
Whatever you think of him he’s tackling the difficult side of conversion and farming . Unfortunately 80% of the public will think that if you ask the vermin/ dear/ fox/ squirrel nicely and they will stop ! well done and if he’s got to act a pillock now and again so they keep making them I will keep paying to watch Agriv8
