A long time ago now just over 30 years ago my dad got 6months for knocking out one of 3 lads messing about with his car ages 19 20 and 22 the one he hit was 20. He threatened to hit my old man with a bottle of Budweiser he had in his hand wrong thing to do. He got 6months served 5 had to pay £800 compensation lost his sgc. These lads were known for causing trouble and fighting as well but made no difference. Funny thing was though when he was sentenced the judge said do you have anything to say my old man said ‘yeah I do , I wish I ******* hit him harder now’.🤣

There’s just no fairness in this world B686.

My dad did something similar a bit more than 30 years ago, but he made sure there were no witnesses, he was always a very patient person.

Well, well, well….

From the BBC News website:

Cheshire MP Mike Amesbury, who repeatedly punched a constituent during a row in the street, has been released from prison after a judge agreed to suspend his 10-week sentence for two years.

The Runcorn and Helsby MP, who admitted assault, had been sent straight to jail after his sentencing hearing at Chester Magistrates' Court on Monday.

Hearing Amesbury's appeal, a judge at Chester Crown Court said that while the length of the sentence had been "spot on", it should be suspended.

Honorary Recorder of Chester Judge Steven Everett also ordered Amesbury to carry out 200 hours' unpaid work, undertake a 12-month alcohol monitoring programme, go on an anger management course and carry out 20 days of rehabilitation work.

Who’d have thought that might happen!

And yet they are locking people up for saying a few hurty words

What is going to happen with this labour. Councilors  who did. The. Knife  to the throat gesture.

All common  sense  has left this country.

And there it is, the slap on the wrist. Just took a bit longer.

Well it didn't take long for the judiciary to show it's true colours did it.

I wonder what the sentence would have been , if the member of the public had started punching the mp in the face , and then carried on while he was on the ground ?.

Yep . It's an absolute disgrace.

The older I get , and the more I see of these things , the more I realise just what a corrupt cesspit this country is.

You have to remember a lot of judges end up in the house of Lords when they retire. The judge wouldn't want to do anything to damage his chances would he?

Yep , a judge wouldn't want to mess up their pension plan , no matter how low they have to stoop.

Speaking as a normal (relatively)bloke on the street . I would feel a deep sense of shame if I'd just done the same as that judge . I'd know that I'd just given up every shred of my integrity and self worth .

I'd rather sleep rough and eat grass .

Oh come on Mel, please be sensible.

Politicians and the Judiciary DO NOT live in the REAL world and just make it all up as they go along.

The ONLY constant is that they ALL look after themselves and their own type.

I know , I shouldn't be surprised.

For just one day , I honestly believed that a judge had done the right thing , and had handed down a well deserved sentence,  only for another judge to overturn it.

I really should have known better Dave .

It's just so damned offensive !.

It really should be on a "LEVEL PLAYING FIELD"

But, it NEVER will be, perhaps AI is the key to getting summary justice across the board?

Take the human factor out of the system and treat EVERYBODY equally, whether you use "HURTY" words or actually hit somebody.

That's the thing for me. I'm a great believer in equality and fairness , but it has to be real equality and fairness. Not the fake kind that we see so often.

I'd never even considered AI . It makes me feel uncomfortable to be honest ,  but at least it would be equal.

Yes but. No but. They are from the same mould as politicos?

Programmed different innit?
