Oxtail soup ?.

I have not personally tried the Oxtail, but I have found Baxters soups to be good.  However I have looked 'on-line' and it seems it may have been discontinued?

Quick look suggests Heinz, or various supermarket 'own brands' (which may be by Heinz?) are all that is available now.

Hello, Any good for a slow cooker Simon ??

PERFECT FOR THE SLOW COOKER....dont remove the bone...fry it in the pan before hand....fry onions....add sugar and some wine swill it around in the pan and add to pot......add chopped carrots....and maybe parsnips.......slow cook........when the meat stats to fall off the bone   pull the lumps of oxetail out of the cooker and the meat will virtually drop off...put back into pot .....do your vedge ...must be MASH

then ladle out ..........SUPREME

Baxters Royal Game soup is quite palatable and meaty.

Interesting.  I tried a tin the other day and found it tasted strongly a bit like pigs liver (i.e. very strong offal flavour).  Not one I would go back for seconds.  I do like Baxters other soups including their Beef Consommé and their Bone Broth with Mushroom and Barley.

Baxters was a decent soup , I did have a tin of the Royal Game once and there was a piece of lead shot in the bottom of the tin , with todays scanning devices I very much doubt a piece of shot would get past the modern scanning machines .

They used to do another decent soup which was Cambells ? , not sure if they are still operating :hmm:

Campbells is now Batchelors. Still in the concentrated form.

THANKS for the update , I used to go to the one at Kings Lynn where they had the big tall building with Campbells painted on , then they knocked it down , or blew it up and I believe it is now Tesco's so I wasn't sure if the soup factory is still in production .

Yes, my wife told me about it when we have driven past the site on the way from Spalding to the the north Norfolk coast.

Nothing’s sacred now, everything is being taken over or swallowed up. The world is changing rapidly, and not for the better. 😢☹️

friend of our family was the works manager there......we used to get invited to tastings of new products coming out......they (campells) organised a big barn dance at Dersingham for the launch of their meatball range
