Poor Shot Posted Thursday at 10:24 Report Share Posted Thursday at 10:24 Where did the two animals come from? You don't just happen over two fully grown Lynx like you would a rescue horse or something.. They would have been smuggled in from abroad or released from a native private collection. Both are concerning as you would hope the authorities would notice two large wild cats being brought into the country and you would hope that any native private collections of big cats are closely monitored and licensed to help prevent this sort of thing. Having said that, if they can't detect a LGV filled with third world migrants then two large cats in a cage would probably also go unnoticed. Anyway, wildlife bombing isn't a rare thing unfortunately with plenty of recent examples of beavers turning up miles from authorised released sites. The excess animals from these authorised sites are often captured and then driven across the country by these eco lunatics and then released onto private land. I recall reading a news article a little while back which documented an example of this with beavers being caught up somewhere in the south east and then released under the cover of darkness onto private land in the south west. Not the article I read but similar.

Exactly these animals did not ask to be released or even bred for the wrong reason . I fear. Many will end up been shot , if they have. Not natural preditor to hunt after them . Scully Posted Thursday at 11:26 Report Share Posted Thursday at 11:26 I’d love to think animals such as Lynx, wolves, bears etc were living wild in the UK, but it just isn’t practical in this day and age, and it would be grossly unfair on those animals released as they’d be persecuted into extinction yet again. The country is simply overpopulated and therefore not big enough to support rewilding in my opinion.
ditchman Posted Thursday at 11:30 Report Share Posted Thursday at 11:30 im sure there are alot of snakes out there as well that are not from this country............i was cutting my hedge several years ago and about 5 yards away a snake at least 6feet long slithered out fron the hedge across the road to the factory park land......the snake was very thin and bright green..and a small head and moved very quickly.....definatly not from this country

I always reflect on the number of mink released years ago by these people, never are they mentioned in relation to the damage caused to Water Voles etc? Pushandpull Posted Thursday at 12:31 Report Share Posted Thursday at 12:31 There is actually a steady but successful ongoing campaign against mink. Google Waterlife Recovery Trust.

I said a bit ago to my Mrs, I can't imagine wandering around after dark in the woods filling squirrel feeders if there were bears or wolves around, probably a few areas in Scotland that are remote enough, but how do you stop a wild animal wandering to the first lot of sheep? islandgun Posted Friday at 11:47 Author Report Share Posted Friday at 11:47 (edited) Two more Police issue warning with two more wild Lynx on loose near Scottish village they have been busy, I wonder who is rearing them. If they make it through the winter they will find easy pickings with lambs and ground nesting birds such as ptarmigan, black grouse and curlew. more eco- vandalism Edited Friday at 11:48 by islandgun

Perhaps the police should be talking to the official Lynx group to see if they have any disgruntled members that might take matters into their own hands

It does not work releasing/treating apex predators with blanket protection and no control policy be they mammalian or avian.
