That’s the point. 12 minutes ago, Dougy said: The guy is lucky not to be sent down for 10 years the max for being in possession of the stun gun !!! For once the system works, how about we imprison people who actually commit violent crimes, not those who own inanimate objects?

Why on earth are we imprisoning LARPers who’ve never harmed anyone? In most countries?? What does that matter, in this country a Stun gun and Knuckle duster are illegal simplevas that, the guy is obviously not a full shilling and the police have acted, well done chaps. If we’re, for some reason, not allowed to call out stupid laws, especially when compared to similar cultures then we really aren’t free. Simple as that. 3 minutes ago, Mice! said: the guy is obviously not a full shilling and the police have acted, well done chaps. People who live in glass houses old chap. There’s a large & growing section of the population who would lump you into that same category for having the temerity to own a S2 and shock horror kill your own dinner with it. Because he was is possession of the Section 5, that brush will sweep all of the guns legal or not into the prohibited bin for this wally. Including any other "Tool" Weapon call them what you like. Really the owners is a bit of a wally and as said earlier really by @Cosmicblue maybe a bit of proactive reaction by the police in this situation. If this wally feels the need to have ta Stun Gun, knuckle dusters and add them to the rest of the collection, what kind of person do you think he portrays, would this person or one with similar mind sets be a member of your close circle of friends, your shooting buddy etc, not forgetting that even by association you could have your licence revoked Agreed. He’s a bit of a Wally, but being a Wally isn’t illegal ( yet ) and you don’t get slung into jail for it. 🤷♂️If owning guns made us wallies, well……. Let’s not forget there’s a few agendas at play here…..’ let’s sensationalise this and big it up as much as possible, even if 67 out of 70 of those firearms were legally held. That way it will endorse the message that guns are bad and no one should have them. It will also show we are on the ball despite not being able to do anything about the soaring death by stabbing epidemic which is rife in this country’. I jest, but you get the jist. What are you asking me? In this hypothetical scenario am I the arresting officer, the custody Sargent, the magistrate? I think the beak has already handed down the most minimal sentence he can given the charges, despite the police & media piously hamming it up into something it’s not. If I could wave a magic wand I’d reform our ridiculous firearm & knife laws to centre around action, not possession.

Did you see the BEE that was in Barrow before Xmas, sculpture made from weapons, most of the rifles looked like break barrels, no doubt handed in as no longer used or wanted, but it looks like dangerous weapons have been removed from the streets. No, wasn’t even aware of it! Have just googled ‘BEE in Barrow’ and up it came! Yes, I see what you mean; ‘scopes, break barrels, wooden stocks, Gamo handguns and more plastic handled kitchen knives than you can shake a stick at! What via a gunshop in Edinburgh? No. He's out of it. I did purchase nearly five thousand rounds of .303 ammunition from him in the very early 1980s though. https://www.edinburghlive.co.uk/news/history/edinburgh-firearms-dealer-who-staged-25130111 Edited Tuesday at 18:58 by enfieldspares

Interesting that the story implies he got his RFD back even after being jailed on a firearms offence.
Sweet11-87 Posted Tuesday at 20:43 Report Share Posted Tuesday at 20:43 (edited) statistics will show that 70+ weapons many of which are firearms were seized and pulled out of circulation, and that a firearms offense was committed it will be thrown in to the data with the dozens of others just like this case, thrown out to the public who will naturally back new rules and restrictions for actual firearms holders to be measured up against reality is the local man child has been giving it bravo two zero down the pub and has had his toys taken off him. old man Posted yesterday at 06:38 Report Share Posted yesterday at 06:38 Possibly another thing like the knife angel? An attempted deflection and waste of time and money? Can someone please explain how huge lumps of metal stop knife crime? Until the actual details of each incident are openly analysed nothing can or will be done as the causes are hidden? There must be common elements that officialdom want to keep hidden?
