Whilst just about anything can be rationalised to a financial sum, it’s obviously not just about money.

That said, what Trump is doing is largely financial engineering, a proportion of the money is on lend-lease arrangement, the US arms industry profits from just about every arms shipment sent to Ukraine, even mothballed equipment. US contractors will also greatly profit from the rebuilding of Ukraine civilian infrastructure. The US does very well out of it.

Unsure if this has been shared but we all know why Trump is pushing the talks...  He will want to buy Ukraine next if they won't let him dig it up...

It’s also being suggested that the US neither really wants nor really needs the Ukrainian resources. Trump is a manipulator, as is Putin, I don’t know what the real scoop is but things Trump is positioning on currently should not be taken literally.

Whatever his game is he’s trying to establish a strong point of leverage in multi way negotiations.

Ukraine has 2 choices, give the minerals to the US, or Russia takes them and sells them to the Americans, and the Yanks find another way to recoup their losses.
Bear in mind that Russia has occupied the areas where the best rare earths are already.

I wouldnt bank on that too much, some one needs to pay them, and Ukraine is bankrupt now, and will be for some time.
The only thing they have is these mystical rare earths, that everyone keeps talking about, but no one saw fit to mine them and improve the country previously.
Dont you find it odd that they were sitting on 2, 3 , 4 trillion dollars worth of wealth for many years, but they preferred to live in poverty ?

Yes, I've already suggested it's not what it seems and I'm also not sure how Ukraine gives minerals to the US if the minerals sit in land it has to cede to Russia.

Trumps deal is actually pretty good.  50% of all minerals mined in the Ukraine will be sold to America at fair market value for 25 years.  Ukraine isn’t giving the minerals to the us. They just have to give American companies the right to buy it first.

Sadly for Starmer, Macron is going to the USA first. I find it mildly amusing that Starmer is rushing to place British troops in Ukraine, whilst at the same time undermining Trump's suggested deal. Starmer's proposal hasn't been agreed by the European leaders either, with Germany slating it.

I mean, we gave them the first 210 billion dollars for free.  So I feel like America has done their fare share.  Maybe some European countries can pick up Americas slack. That’s not a small number. Not to mention the 70 billion we gave to other countries in aid last year.  If you remember correctly according to Democrats, America could not afford to build a 12 billion dollar border wall.

Hello, That is all very well but how would you feel if you were an Ukraine National, Maybe family killed, Home destroyed, and your President given an Ultimatum, Minerals or no more help, So sit back and watch Russia wipe out a Nation and all its Citizens , If that happens it will not stop there, Putin will have other Countries in his Gun Sights, And the USA will still not get the Minerals

Does it really matter. To Ukraine  who they sell them to. Businesses  is Businesses.  What has our clown of a. PM  done. Signed a contract for 10 years. To give aid. .To UKRAINE  what do we get in return ??

Hello, Most of the Ukraine Nationals in UK are working and paying Tax , This can not be said on the 1 million Illegal immigrants costing Tax payer millions of £s , And Labour have just announced more money for free legal aid to illegal immigrants which puts the money Ukraine national get into insignificance
