Milliband has never lived in a 'real world'.  He was brought up in a political dynasty type of family and has no real work experience outside the cozy and isolated bubble of the political scene.  He sees things in a different way to those have lived and worked in society.

Its a sad fact, but many who want, aspire and largely succeed in joining and staying in the political 'elite' that control our lives have never had to experience life outside in a 'real world'.

Yes they have ------ forced prices up by the stupid net zero activities

Its my understanding the gov made energy suppliers cough up to provide free boiler and insulation for low income families - which clearly savaged their profits.

I can't personally complain about that as we, on low income, had free boiler replacement and loft and cavity wall insulation top ups to a value of about 4K,

They don't take it out of profits - they put it loaded across all bills

Ah OK, I think that's still a reason for higher costs across the board? I reckon I'll end up repaying a lot of that in higher bills - as will every one else who have better incomes.

Ofgem allow a 'specified' profit - I think it is around 5%. https://www.energynetworks.org/newsroom/debunking-the-energy-networks-profit-rhetoric

Where 'social' costs come in (such as writing off bad debts, subsidies  to lower income groups etc.) they are spread over the operating costs which go to make up part of the overall operating expenses they are allowed to charge for
