That's rubbish, round here there are possibly up to five regulars that visit our cul de sac alone but they may be one extended family. A square kilometre is a big area, in an urban area its hundreds of streets

Its a big problem for pension schemes that when the pensioner dies the family does not inform the scheme and continues to draw the pension. Its fraud but its very common. You are lucky you don't get a visit from a fraud investigator to physically check you are still above ground. My pension scheme I get an occasional visit. Its interesting to engage him in conversation about it because he said they have to follow up on people in 60 odd countries around the world. And that pension fraud is costing this country millions of pounds

My friend Phil retired down to Worthing a few years back to a bungalow because his wife had arthritis in her knees but apart from that they were very fit and healthy. He used to joke that all he ever got through his letterbox were leaflets about care homes, equity release schemes and funeral plans.

Can You Overshoot An Area For Pigeons ?
Vince Green replied to marsh man's topic in Talk From The Field
No I don't believe you can do anything to influence pigeon numbers with a shotgun. You will only cull a tiny percentage at best. My friend reckons oil seed rape drives the pigeons away in Hertfordshire. And its true there are hundreds of yellow fields come summer. Whether he is right or not I don't know but anecdotally pigeon numbers have been at an all time low and rabbits have all but disappeared too. -
I would ask about sources of cartridges on the MLAGB forum. or the HBSA forum if you know a member (or are willing to join)

Has anybody significant evidence of her receiving excessive abuse, ie beyond reasonable protest within a democratic society? Or is this a bit of remain mischief?

All very true Plus, there is a lot of merit in joining a club. I can shoot at one of mine six days a week and the club is affiliated to NRA, NSRA and MLAGB so has access to all their facilities. The big plus though is networking. You meet lots of new and useful people and once they get to know and trust you many things, including advice, invitations and introductions are possible. Booked stalking is the way to go, to be honest its the only way unless you are very well connected.

That's quite unusual for a red dot sight

They usually sit higher than the normal line of sight for clay shooting, causing problems with mount/swing. As a half measure you could try an optical foresight for about twenty quid which still gives you the appearance of a red dot in the sky. My mate loved his, I found it distracting.

Oh you will if you join one of the cartridge collecting organisations and start collecting seriously.

Eley first used the name Grand Prix in March 1903. The Paris Grand Prix was the biggest shooting event in the world at the time and it was won using Eley cartridges for the second time.

Just google wart freezing kit, yes they work if you follow the instructions properly. Nothing happens for a long time and you think it has failed

That's a good idea, now why didn't I think of that

Any illegal can claim asylum, even if the basis of the claim is ridiculously untenable it will still take years to go through the system with appeal after appeal racking up thousands in legal aid. During the whole of that process the claimant is entitled to free housing and full benefits. Even if the claim is ultimately rejected it is still less than likely that the Home Office would ever get round to deporting them
-
Of course they are Economic migrants, the real refugees are still living in tents in freezing conditions in the camps on the Turkish borders because real refugees lack the ability to leave the camps. Its practically a self cancelling test, if they can get this far they almost certainly won't be genuine. They also know that France won't take them back so once they land in this country, by what ever means, they have more or less cracked it

It actually doesn't matter that much if you don't get it all out because its chemically inert, the black carbon colouration never seems to completely go no matter how many patches you put down the barrels . Its not like the old days when primers were corrosive and you had to get it neutralised. More important is to make sure you get a good protective coating of oil on the bores to prevent rust before you put them away. Cleaning rifles that have been shooting copper jacketed bullets is an entirely different story

When in my 20s I worked in a very large factory employing about 6000 people. There were numerous Christmas Clubs where on payday you would collect your pay and then go and pay £1 or what ever into the club. Christmas week the clubs all paid out and the local shops had an absolute bonanza.

Who reads the Guardian? Personally I wouldn't even consider it fit to line the cat litter tray

If you are in the position where you can shop for prices there are some incredible fares I have done London to Cardiff for around £12 many times in the past. London to Chester for about the same. We went to Fort William for £45 but nothing is guaranteed. You have to search for deals. If you are a commuter you don't have that luxury.

Anyone come accross this one before?
Vince Green replied to Lord v's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
It would certainly be interesting to try some old paper cartridges in it to see how they went in. Another though, is it possible the barrels have been sleeved in the past? -

There is still no worldwide industry standard for any dimensions on ammo or chambers. SAAMI in the USA set out to create a degree of uniformity from 1926 but it was only followed by those of its member companies voluntarily. A similar code existed in Europe ( known as CIP) but didn't always match up with SAAMI and it doesn't include all the countries in Europe. The British gun trade controlled itself, separate from both SAAMI and the European manufacturers. Its not a new problem, you have only got to look at shot sizes to realise its never been consistent. -
I couldn't agree more! At the end of their career in recognition of past achievement perhaps, but only then if they have made a charitable contribution above and beyond their own self interest

Fishing is big money

They are being taken out to introduce into private waters according to the local bailiff who patrols the canal along side our sailing lake. On the stretch of the Grand Union Canal between Rickmansworth and Uxbridge there are dozens of flooded gravel pits adjacent to the canal and all are in the hands of expensive clubs.

There is another explanation, when you look at where I live in NW London. Within the HA postcode district there are three The Chases, three The Avenues, two The Drives, two Parkways, two Greenways, several Broadways. Numerous roads starting the word Elm, and multiple other duplications. We live at 4 XXXX Court, lots of our stuff goes to 4 XXXX Way and vice versa. My uncle and aunt live in Church Ave, they get taxis and pizzas turning up for them all the time. There is another Church Ave about 3 miles away A professional postman can sort these things out but a low grade van driver for whom English isn't his first language and doesn't know the area isn't going to know.
