  1. R&K Stockraft nr Milton Keynes have a factory trained chap (Johnnie) who can strip and rebuild in his tea break-doesn't charge much and knows his stuff.
  2. The death penalty has been abolished in this country due to the cost-its far cheaper to imprison a man for life. The legal wrangling involved in a couple of death sentences would bankrupt this country-countries that keep such a punishment do not have the same human rights luxury that we enjoy.
  3. Mmmmmmm-a thousand pound plus Airgun that needs insulating tape to seat the action into the stock? Sorry to be blunt DD but if I were in your shoes the Manager at the Airgun Centre would need a skilled proctologist to describe the gun to him by now. Did you pay by credit card?-if so you may have some come back.
  4. Re-nationalise the Railways then cut fare prices significantly- so we all pay for the tiny % that use the train?
  5. Vacuum hose split or loose or losing pressure in the injector rail.
  6. You bought the gun in good faith-I doubt that a Court could find you guilty of much-unless they could prove that you knew it held more shells than it should. There must be something in the water round here-speaking to a dealer the other day-a well known courier arrived at his shop after he had closed. Finding the door locked and the lights off the driver left the package round the side of the premises and left. Following day the owner turns up and finds the package......nice 12G sbs
  7. A Dremel would do it easily-if you were nearer I would lend you mine
  8. It actually works like any springer from memory-the bit that pops out has a washer at the rear that compresses the air in front of it as it flies forwards-this is forced into a hole between the loading plug and the rear of the projectile.

    School trip

Several years ago I tried to organise a Memorial stone for the 35 RAF crewmen who lost their lives whilst based at our local aerodrome-the Church showed no interest whatsoever and never even bothered to contact me after they had said they would. The Royal British Legion refused to give permission to add the names to the current memorial because the men who gave their lives "had nothing to do with this Parish"-(not even those who died within the Parish boundaries)-what a different attitude to our European neighbours
  10. As already said-the Medalist was made (largely) by FIAS -if you take the stock off you should see the word Olympic or Olympus I think stamped on the trigger unit.
  11. If you have a local Fishmonger ask him for the Heads that get cut off-they make excellent bait.
  12. I doubt that the SBS has given you any previous advantage-it most likely was simply a better fit-besides, a kill is a kill no matter where in the pattern the target is and if you have been shooting poorly for years but the larger chokes had been hiding the fact it would only be relative to certain targets. Your average O/U is a fence post compared to a decent SBS and requires a bit of getting used to-as others have suggested, get it on some clays and a pattern plate and you should soon be good friends-confidence is what you need sir
  13. Aldi do some nice Cod-their Fish cakes are pretty good as well.
  14. I never suggested this but-if you pop into a large DIY store and find a sheet the right thickness you could then get the nice men to cut a piece exactly the right size for you-what happens then is you leave the store without taking the sheet/offcut with you. If you were to pop in a couple of days later you might find exactly the right size piece in the offcuts bin being sold really cheap
  15. Soooo many variations prevent any correct answers-but not many crows will walk away from 28g load of 7.5's if the range is right-I would say, however, that if you need bigger than 6 shot and more than 1/2 choke then your fieldcraft needs fine tuning and not your hardware As for which tube first- I usually keep the bottom barrel fitted with the more open choke so if the birds are coming towards me I would use top barrel first followed by bottom barrel as they panic and turn as they are still approaching-if they are flying away then its bottom barrel first.
  16. Mine loves Eley subs and RWS hv-the RWS can be very hard to find though.
  17. Buy the very best helmet, gloves and boots that you can afford-they last longer and may save your skin.
  18. Good Riddance-the whole program had become dull, pointless and repetitive - about 3 years ago to be honest.
  19. Done-can I get cheap Sausages now?
  20. Today I mainly be salivating over the new Aldi Caramelised onion and mature chedder flat bread-snice.
  21. HW if want real quality-Annie if you want to shoot a particular Flea on a Rabbits head or a CZ if you simply want dead things all over the place.
  22. Try taking out 10 batches of 5 pellets from one tin-fire all 50, five at a time into 10 identical targets-why are all the groups not identical? If all the pellets were made to a tolerance measured in microns as the makers seem to suggest, why are all the groups slightly different? If its the gun, for whatever reason, then why bother to make such precision pellets?-if the gun happens to be a thousand pounds worth of Daystate then its got to be the pellet.
  23. Speak to demonwolf444 on this very forum-man's a genius where wood is concerned and you can post the Stock, action and for end for about a tenner. As for the barrels - read up on preparing them for blue and do the donkey work yourself - then shop around for the best cash price, you can get them done to a high standard if you pay cash and don't mind waiting for a gunsmith to do yours when he does a batch.
  24. I'm with demonwolf444 on this-although the gun is most likely a mass produced Birmingham built gun it still has some worth-there are few problems that cannot be fixed with time and money. I would get the barrels measured to see if they would stand fine boring and go from there.
  25. IMHO its no more than a confidence trick-if you think that a pellet manufacturer has the ability to produce ammunition to such precise sizes, in soft lead, that has to be measured in microns, and then dump 500 of them in a metal tin then you are missing the trick. To provide such precision each pellet would need to be weighed and sized by such expensive machinery that the cost would be prohibitive-and then the pellets would need to be individually packed and size would only be guaranteed at a specific and stated temperature. When dies are made to produce pellets they may well be polished to extremely tight tolerances but such engineering is extremely expensive and these dies would soon wear and its unlikely that they are discarded-but who knows?, I have never made pellet dies (I did make all the original Hozelock hosepipe fittings Dies though) so maybe someone on here knows better?
