  1. Puma socks from Sports Direct rarely last 100 yards before a selection of holes appear - best avoided.
  2. "Slow and fiddly to load?" - your left hand falls naturally where the anti bear trap sits, the only added movement is to depress it with your fingers - takes nanoseconds and is easily achieved as your right arm extends to reach the under lever. The breach is then exposed on cocking and is big enough to easily thumb a pellet home unless you have hands like a shovel. The difference between the 2, loading wise, is completely irrelevant in the real world, what brings home the Bacon is accuracy - the HW will never compete against the TX unless considerable tuning/fettling has been undertaken.
  3. Equivalent eh? Scotland has the Krankies.
  4. It's heavy for a reason OPP - it's made of steel that's thick enough to last a lifetime. Stick a LW tube on the end of a ,pretty much customised, action and you have the TX. Hand on heart OPP - if you found yourself stranded on an Island and knew you were going to be there for the rest of your life - which of the 2 would you choose?
  5. Or, if you are lucky and patient, a proper Gun like the TX200!
  6. Does anybody actually believe, hand on heart, that us voluntarily giving up lead will protect our sport from constant restrictive legislation that will , sooner rather than later, outlaw our love of Guns and Shooting? This current proposal is no more than another nail in our Coffin. The fact that the vast majority of us, and those who speak for us at a higher level, are all bending over and dropping their trousers must have the likes of Packham and his chums laughing at our paltry resistance. I'M NOT VOLUNTEERING TO STOP USING LEAD.
  7. Twin Wall Polycarbonate panels are available from some builders merchants - or, as ever, Ebay is your friend - run a bead of Silicone along the top and bottom edges to prevent water ingress and "fogging". Make sure your plants don't get too hot - my greenhouse often hit the low 40's last year and my Tomatoes suffered - I had a couple of young plants left over after filling the Greenhouse and couldn't stand to see them thrown away - popped them in a raised bed and just ignored them......Tomatoes were at least 3 times the size of the Greenhouse ones!!! If blight is a problem then 1x 75mg dissolvable Aspirin in a litre of water and sprayed over the plant is effective.
  8. Why can we not simply label all Game shot with lead? The end consumer then decides if they want to take the risk of eating the meat - works with Raw Milk?
  9. Lidl or Aldi used to do their own version - the Beef and Tomato (50p from memory) tasted good if you added ketchup and a teaspoon of beef gravy powder.
  10. Does David Nickerson want fries with that?
  11. I don't get it - you want something different but state " I do not shoot Black Powder" - getting a BP licence is no real pain and opens up a whole new world of possibilities. Are you bored with the modern gun and the mundane notion of just being a part of the firing cycle? Black Powder Shotguns give you far more involvement and a far greater sense of achievement when you have used your skill to load a piece that then brings down a high, jinking bird, it is also satisfying to use a gun the likes of which your great grandfather may have experienced. If you get a chance try one or at least handle a pre 1900 damascus barrelled English gun.
  12. If you don't sell it, can I take it out on a date? Best looking thing I've seen for some time.
  13. As a Chartered Surveyor you can keep vermin off his land, report broken fences, inform him of any strangers wandering around, keep an eye on his Farm Machinery and treat him as a friend and respect his every decision as to where and when you can visit - pretty much the same as all of us. Don't give up - if you are intelligent enough to be a Surveyor, you are certainly bright enough to champion your cause.
  14. When I worked at a Salvage Yard we never even bothered to look for the supplied socket - 2 lb lump hammer and a hardened socket was all we ever used.

Get a Greenhouse - scour the local free papers and you can sometimes get them for nothing, never thought I would enjoy it but there's something really relaxing about growing food that you could buy for far less from a Super Market. Chillies, Coriander, Garlic all taste far nicer though from your own Greenhouse.
  16. Met a Pro Dog walker today and she swears by Brewers Yeast Tablets - not sure if she is a bit odd but, by god, she was stunning so I could have listened to her talking all day!!
  17. Madras Hot Chicken Tikka Masala is the dish my local (ish) Indian make for me - never tasted anything like it, it's simply sublime. Onion Bhajis the size of a Tennis Ball done crispy and I'm in heaven - if you are ever in Stony Stratford try the Kardamom Lounge in the high street.
  18. My brother in law tried a Phall at a restaurant in Bicester a few years back - now neither of us were girly where it comes to heat and we both worked part time at another restaurant where we had a bet with the head chef that he could not cook anything so hot that we couldn't eat it (he never did) but this Phall was deadly and we seriously considered calling an Ambulance at the time - he was sweating profusely, shaking and the veins on his head were so pronounced that they looked like he had wiring under his skin.
  19. I'm really struggling to see the fascination with these replicas - OK they look like the real thing but the end result is almost an insult to it's pedigree. Watched a young lad down our local club a few weeks back - impressive armoury of 9mm parabellum, S&W 357 pistols and a very realistic looking kalashnikov rifles but when he stepped up and shot them it was laughable - pop popo pop - he looked a right ****. Think I would rather have a deac genuine gun than Soda Stream Special.
  20. Been through loads of food with my springers and Arkela was best for coat and overall condition but loose stools forced me to shop around - have found Tesco stock one called Naturo that they seem to love and the ingredients seem fine.
  21. I used to use the Aldi flour a few years back Centrepin, but it seemed to be reluctant to rise but bought 2 bags last w/end and the bread is as good as the normal premium stuff.
  22. Just a quick tip - Aldi strong white flour is 55p for 1.5 kg - must be about the cheapest and works a treat.
