Hull Pro One alternatives
chesterse replied to chesterse's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
Should have said that particular cartridge from a range of several after I outlined my requirements. That’s what I like about these forums there’s always one smart ****! 😃 -

Hull Pro One alternatives

Yes I do like Officials and that is what I have been shooting for competition the past few years but just felt the pro ones were softer. I know it’s a bit subjective. I too buy from Cecil’s but with the new increase from Fiocchi they are not far off the Pro ones price now. Might take another look at RC2s as mentioned by cookoff013 have shot them in the past and they are a good shell. -
Hull Pro One alternatives

Yes and it does make a difference but not a total elimination in my case. Couple of things, not having the comb too low as to obscure your peripheral vision and having the grip sorted so that the pull is straight back and not on the diagonal. Still a bit of a mystery but I do know that thumpy shells don’t help. -
Won some Hull Pro Ones recently and on shooting them remembered what an excellent shell they are. I find the are smooth to shoot and really “kill” well. Anyone come across an alternative that’s as good but at a more competitive price. Or is it a case of you only get what you pay for? I can’t shoot any shells that are a bit thumpy or I start flinching!

Age of cartridge - settling an argument
chesterse replied to Agriv8's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
If you are tempted to try them make sure you clean your gun afterwards as they had a reputation for rotting the inside of barrels😀 80’s sounds about right. -
I have a 682 x trap 32” fixed choke, 3/4 and full which I used to shoot perfectly well with at sporting and Fitasc. Only moved on because I wanted new toys! Think is does depend on your physical stature though, I’m fairly tall with a long neck so the montecarlo stock suited me.

How wonderful to hear all this. My day was made tonight when I saw a barn owl hunting up the banks of the small stream in front of our house. I was beginning to think the buzzards had had them all !

Only seen a couple of swallows yet, numbers are way down for this time of year. No swifts yet. We used to have several cuckoos locally but have not heard or seen one for about 10 years. This is very rural spot in S. Lincs.

If it fits you keep your Beretta 682 Gold e 32”, great guns and in my opinion the 32” barrels are the best option. The model has lightweight barrels and 32” gives better control.

Shot it yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the day out. Lucky to be in a good squad although there were eight of us in it! Thankfully everything did run like clockwork. Thought the level of difficulty was excellent as to suit the majority of shooters, some easier and more tricky close targets, medium range with a variety of angles and some longer testers at the end of each course. I did not shoot anywhere near as well as last year as getting used to a new gun but thought it was a better shoot overall this time apart from the first rabbit stand which was a bit of a lottery.

If it’s the Dave White from Lincolnshire, he is a brilliant shot!

Anybody got an old type Beretta 682 trap stock that they are willing to sell? Would also consider a Monte Carlo.

Good looking dog. I love cockers, lost my old one recently so will also be looking for a pup around May time. Have been very lucky with my younger 5 year old dog, he is very steady. I think the secret is to get the recall sorted so that they do not get too far ahead.

THE FIRST DISOLVABLE AND BIODEGRADEABLE WAD
chesterse replied to Sparticle's topic in Bullets, Cartridges and Reloading
There was a biodegradable wad available about 25 - 30 years ago, it’s so long ago I’m struggling to remember the cartridge manufacturer - think it was Winchester. -
Took it up 4 years ago when a serious bout of vertigo left me with balance problems. I found it brilliant for improving flexibility, strength, balance and relaxation especially as I am approaching 70. Before I started doing it I also had knee and lower back problems, it certainly has helped with these ailments too.

Very good write up and glad to hear you enjoyed the day. Very often beater’s days can be a disappointment as the stand in beaters don’t do such a good job as the regular beaters and due to it being at the end of the season the drives which are usually full of birds have been really thinned out. You can make some new friends though who seem to come “out of the woodwork” on beater’s day🙂 I had two really good ones this year and a third where the birds didn’t turn up, so two out of three is not bad!

I’ve got a Beretta 391 Urika 2 gold parallel target 32” which I’ve had since 2012. It’s not my main clay shooting gun but whenever I go back to it I always seem to shoot well. Did have to put some lead in the stock to get it to balance to my liking though. Although it’s a very long gun I don’t find it a handicap in any way on clays and it points very well. It’s also has a motecarlo stock which fits me well, having a long neck.

I’ve had three 32” and the two fixed choke ones seemed to handle better than the multichoke. Started off with a fixed choke, then had it teagued because I thought I was disadvantaged on the close stuff. Then bought a multichoke and didn’t like that , eventually sold those two and went back to a fixed 3/4 and full which I shot well with.

I’ve gone 5/8s / 5/8s on a sporterised DT trap gun, never regretted it.

Really good cartridge with soft recoil - have not noticed any residue issues. -

We bought a new 1.0 ecoboost Fiesta a year last Sept and have done about 7K miles in it. Brilliant little car, really well designed, surprisingly quick and driven steadily get about 50 mpg. Had no problems at all!

And Now John Lewis are Blaming Brexit for their Poor Profits
chesterse replied to TIGHTCHOKE's topic in Off Topic
Horrendously high prices on the High St are the reason for for poor sales. Even discounted sale items are beyond what most people can afford to pay!
