  1. The supermarkets promote UK fruit and veg but fill the shelves with cheaper foreign stuff. Been like that for a very long time. Next time you go have a look, there will be big posters all on a background of union jacks and pictures of quaint little traditional villages, shire horses pulling carts with children chewing straw and running around. Then look on the shelves and find maybe 10% from UK at most. Probably to be expected at this time of year as we are in the "hungry gap" right now, but look again in mid season. Apple season is September, this is a classic example, loads of union jack posters and the only English apples will be unusually small, mixed varieties in a bag and not very good quality. They will be surrounded by tip top foreign fruit. I have no idea where they even get such poor UK fruit because as an apple grower myself I wouldn't even try to sell it.
  2. I think bread is my favourite food. I eat far too much of it.
  3. Very easy to shrug it off as just old people dying, a bit different when they are your loved ones.
  4. There are thousands of variants of covid, it sometimes puzzles me why they make a fuss about finding another one. I think this is probably just down to poor journalism, instead of mentioning the fact the virus has slightly changed and may become more infectious they prefer to promote the "MUTATION!" angle to the story. If the particular new variant does turn out to have a dramatically different characteristic then it is right to highlight it but they don't usually tell you that bit.

    HEADS UP!!

Very much depends on the driver, no matter which firm. Local Hermes driver is an absolute legend, you just could not ask for any more. Everyone sings his praise not just me.
  6. There was probably either a fox, a cat, an owl or a bird of prey there somewhere.

    Test Results.

A friends wife was pretty rough with it, he never got it. (she was tested positive) Cousins wife had it, none of the other 3 adults in the house had it (she tested positive three times over three weeks) Heard plenty of similar tales.

    Covid 19

In November 2019 I was completely floored by something that gave all the symptoms of covid but it was a couple of months before it had been invented. Very unlike me to get anything, haven't been to a doctor in nearly 20 years. Had a covid antibody test recent and it was negative. Get well soon.
  9. Tandoori masala. Sainsburys sell it if you are in an ethnic part of the country on their "Foods of the World" aisle. Cheap as anything for a bag of it.
  10. I believe the reporters have had to have counselling due to the lack of bad news.
  11. Always kicked off down the local when it was a full moon.
  12. Police just give incident number over the phone and don't bother to turn up. Poor state of affairs but what's the point of turning up because nothing ever happens, even if it got to court which is unlikely the sentence if any is no deterrent. Certain sections of the community are very much aware of this and take full advantage of it. The guy with the tv knows full well he can get his breath back and try again where there is a less athletic security guard.
  13. Can't see the point of them when master keys are available for sod all on ebay
  14. Another vote for Laksen, ones with CTX lining. I have two different jackets, both bought second hand off here and both completely waterproof no matter how much it rains or snows.
  15. Not allowed to be carried onboard by some airlines. Cans burst and entire planeful of passengers stark puking
  16. When did logic come into it?
  17. No, they are very good. Lack of use is usually down to lack of opportunity, lack of place to use them or loss of interest. That is a generalisation, no idea why this particular one is for sale.
  18. He probably did it because he knew him rather than his colour. (he did know him) Taking the knee is bullying imo and no better than what they are supposedly objecting to.

My business supplies to farm shops and also to pubs, coffee shops etc. While the first lockdown hit pub sales hard there was a massive rush when they opened up again and steady trade after that. I put that down to the good weather we enjoyed at the time. Farm shops went nuts in the first lockdown as people avoided supermarkets, most of my customers told me trade had quadrupled. I couldn't keep up with sales and ran out of product. During this lockdown sales to pubs are nil and not much of a rush as they reopen, in fact sales have so far only just gone to normal if that. Farm shop sales haven't changed much this time around, presumably because people have got used to supermarket shopping wearing a mask etc. Pubs are on cash on delivery only and not just me doing that, good luck to them but I am very glad I don't own a pub. My feeling is there is much worse to come (pretty obvious really) it is going to be a long winter for a lot of pubs and many won't survive. On the flip side, one pub tells me their takeaway sales have meant even though there's nobody in the pub they are making more money than when it was open and paying all the staff. I doubt the staff are so pleased though.
  20. He was still being nice. Over a ton is automatic ban possible jail. Mate of mine was ever so grateful when the copper wrote down 99mph.

    Homebrewing

Why would you? Rusty, difficult to see if it is clean, not designed for food etc. I can only think of reasons why not to.

Can we not just shoot a few and chuck the rest overboard as a deterrent? Then just say we don't know what happened.
  23. All being well my new grey windows will be arriving on Wednesday. Have my reservations tbh but as I ordered them in July and have been boarded up since I think any colour will do!
