I learn something everyday, jonny cash is a singer. There was me thinking it was the change from a durex machine
  3. I made my own, plastic 8mm pole from the local garden centre,a 60amp connector block and a coat hanger. They fit into a old fishing rod rest so they are adjustable24''-48'' cost approx £6 for all three
  4. I went out sat on some drilled wheat, shot 23 in 4hrs it was freezing cold with strong winds.I made some floaters as described on another thread, well pleased top tip.At about 2pm i went round a small wood approx 2 acres shot 2pigeons and a tree rat (squirrel). Not the best day ever but i enjoyed it and thats what it's all about pushing my luck trying to get out today, had a hard frost last night so they should be hungry
  5. If you can read this thank a school teacher if you can read it in english thank a soldier We can never repay the debt we owe to those people who lost their lives to give us the life we have now.Or to those that are fighting for our country now.I take my hat off to all those people
  6. Vermin dropper, that looks like a big boys toy. What gadgets has it got, engine, suspension, etc
  7. I work in a slaughterhouse 5.30am-1.30pm then on a pig farm in the afternoons not the best jobs in the world but it pays the bills
  8. I ordered mine today,at least now when i give one of these to local farms they will see i'm serious about my sport and it looks more professional than a srap of paper with your telephone number scribbled on. :yp:
  9. Well done tommy, proper job.Are you sure you use a whistle, not a dinner bell instead.I bought myself one of those whistles last year, spent ages practising. Mainly while driving to work once you have the knack they are pucker.Got to practise a bit more before i do as well as you
  10. Went on sun left home at 6am arrived at 10.30 stopped for breakfast had a good day looking round, found a few bargains. When it was time to go home what a nightmare.Took 2 1/2 hours to get off the car park then had traffic on A5 road works on A14 had a 30mile diversion.Got home at 11.45 took 6 3/4hours to get home.I'm afraid i won't be going again unless they sort the parking problem out
  11. I will do both,on foot or 4x4.I enjoy it on foot as you need more field craft to stalk your target,i have over 3000 acres to cover so it keeps me busy in the long winter nights out 3or 4 times a week
  12. BUY A LANDROVER,BUY THE BEST..............DRIVE FOR A MILE,THEN WALK THE REST :yp:
  13. Country est,i too drive a frontera and i love it.Does everything i want it to every time.I would like a landy i wont denie it,but the money they cost for what you get isn't worth it,thats my opionion. How many realy use a 4x4 to the max,up to the axles in mud, over the bonnet in water.I don't.It goes down farm tracks across stubble fields thats good enough for what i want
  14. I work for one of the largest pork producers in the country,we are handling a third of the home grown pigs that we did 10yrs ago.But we are putting the same amount out of the gate.HOW,we have dutch, spanish lorries bringing meat in.Once it is proccessed it is put on the shelves of a major supermarket as british produce.WHY is this allowed to happen i hear you ask, because blair doesn't want the country side or farmers when you go to the butcher ask him if it is genuine british home grown meat,if not buy it,and feed it to your dog thats all its good for. Most supermarkets have foreign meat on the shelves, don't think that if it has the little red tractor on it it british cos it aint always. This doesn't only apply to meat
  15. Pluck it as best you can over a dustbin,if you can get hold of a burco boiler half fill it with water. Then put couple of boxes of wax candles in hot water. When the wax has melted dip the bird in covering all the body, let it cool and peel off the wax.Throw the wax back into the hot water all the small featers and down will sink leaving the wax on top.Let it cool down and set then put it somewhere until next time
  16. Some realy top tips. The one that i find realy helps is to say you can supply a reference.Doesn't have to be a farmer, can be your boss,or a good friend.A lot of farmers are wary of letting a stranger on there land due to all the valuable equipment that goes missing. Also once you have got permission keep in touch with the farmer, let him see you around the farm on a regular basis, not only are you keeping vermin under control your a form of security.Once he knows he can trust you 100% you will be able to go where you want when you want.
  17. One of the farms i shoot is cutting the rape today, the pigeons where going on to it within hours. They started yesterday hope to be finished on friday,i will be set up and waiting saturday morning.Building a hide in the middle tommorow night. Two in the hedge so i have different places if they move there flight lines

    Toyota hilux

I had a 1984 hi-lux with 245,000 miles on the clock. The engine was sweet as a nut,had a bit of trouble with prop shaft, half shaft.Other than that it was ok.Check around the rear wheel arches they are prone to rot there it's a real water trap.I just picked up a vauxhall frontera swb on a m (94) £2300.Not every ones choice but i can take the roof panel out in seconds for lamping also use it as a every day car

    200 tdi engines

It isn't just the engine thats done all those miles.Gear box, axles etc.I bought a hilux 4x4 had 245,000 miles on the clock, i had it 3 monthes 2 of those it was in the garage. The engine was great, every thing else that could go wrong DID.Prop shaft, half shaft startermotor, plus a lot of other things. When i brought it i thought i had a bargain when i added up what it cost me it wasn't so much of a bargain. If you look around there are some good deals to be had
  20. Went out on laid barley today picked up 26.Could of had a lot more, problem is finding the ones that fell in the standing crop.So we were trying to shoot them so they fell amongst the decoys. Can't wait till the combines come out, all that pigeon shooting and lamping foxes.
  21. If you are not 101% sure of a safe shot DON'T pull the trigger.Try laying a rabbit with it's guts hanging out in a safe area.If possible use a high seat, that way you will be shooting into the ground
