Ran a Freelander 2 for some years before changing to a Disco Sport. The Freelander was a great car and had no issues . In lots of ways a better car than the Disco Sport. I would have another - no problem.

I quite agree but we all are aware of instances of unprofessional dealers treating customers badly.

If I were GMK I wouldn't be happy with a so-called Premium Dealer being so unprofessional biting the hand that feeds them. They are happy enough to take the extra discounts and promotions the 'Premium' bit gives them then side with the customer when a problem occurs. But that's the gun trade for you I suppose.

You're right about exceptions - I have an MK38 which must have fired at least 20k+ cartridges and so far no problems. I only use decent cartridges though, maybe Hull or some of the better Fiocchis so maybe that has something to do with it.

I doubt very much that the gun needs new pins. Your misfires were probably a cartridge issue as you say. Leave it alone. Don't mess with it.

With that budget you're spoilt for choice. Get ferreting about on Guntrader and see what takes your fancy. The way things are the moment you could buy a good used gun from a private seller for not much money. Potentially you could buy a gun priced at £5k new for your budget. Don't be in a hurry.

Hardly. Its impossible to move the gun fast enough to get the 'hosepipe' effect.

Had a gearbox failure on an E Class this year - 3 weeks out of warranty and I hadn't extended it. Cost to repair was £1800 and the dealer refused to discount the price. Long story short, I managed to get £800 back from them. This was on a three year old car with 25K on the clock by the way. My own fault I know, I should have taken out the extended warranty. Left a nasty taste all the same. I sold it in the trade for what I paid for it a year earlier. Back to BMW.

I think the Freelander 2 is probably one of Land Rovers better efforts. Ten grand would buy you a decent one and it would be head and shoulders above the other two on your list.

I drove one of these for a couple of years about 5 years ago. It was the D5 version. Went everywhere I now go with my Discovery Sport. Quiet, comfortable - probably the most comfortable seats in any car I've had. Huge carrying capacity. Essential you find a Volvo specialist for servicing, main dealer prices are savage. If you're image-conscious then be prepared to have the p*** taken by your mates. Its a thoroughly good, solid, safe big car - but may be a little dull for some tastes.

Hull Intercomp and Pro One in 8's are both soft shooting cartridges. Finding them might be another matter although both are available from Hull.

Remember one of these as a kid. It had a large wooden handle for turning it until it was modernised with a belt drive from the Fordson Super Major. Mixed with chaff and rolled barley it was fed to fattening bullocks. The mill was run from the tractor pulley too.

Well I've had a look this week and the only stuff I can find in the UK is fishing gear. Everything still available in the States but shipping/customs is $55. Not feasible really.

Good piece of kit. Its a shame Orvis no longer sell their clothing in the UK as it was always top quality and hard wearing. Bit pricey mind - but you get what you pay for.
