  1. My vote also goes to Gamebore Mammoth 4 for duck and 3 for geese.
  2. We have the same problem with Badgers going to try Sorghum this year which also stands the weather better than Maize.
  3. I think you will find they are Stellier & Belliot I used 1000s of them back in the 70s they were cheap and better than Baikls not so violent.
  4. Figgy years ago I opened up a Baikel cartridge it had several size of shot in it and most were not round but they patterned realy well and killed most things I shot at from clays to ducks they were 32gm 7 on the box and at £48 per 1000 and they were in a wooden crate we used as a log basket happy days and yes they did flash and bang but through a remmey 1100 were tolerable.
  5. Sorry Keith that sort of thing is beyond me as an old **** all I can suggest is join Uk Country Sports on Face Book .
  6. Its German and strangely it came up on face book this morning on the uk country sports page.
  7. Twymyn Let us know how you get on with them please as I have said on other posts on here these fibre cups must be the way forward for all loads lead and steel.
  8. All keepers should be tipped and I think the general rule is £20 per 100 birds or more if you have had a good day personaly.
  9. So do I , I have even managed to hit them on the run after missing an easy shot at 30yds.
  10. At 30 yds your bullet will be low it takes a lot of will power to aim high even after years of experience .
  11. We skin off the breast and then cut of the meat as large steaks my daughter is a master at this and wastes no meat.
  12. Just checked my new one ( still in the bag ) pockets are there just stitched up lightly.
  13. Looking at them they need to be out and about not stuck in a pen I think they look good ,as long as that stubble field is not over your boundary .
  14. Westley thanks but I have tried this and did not get on with it enfieldspares I can not shut my left eye so a bruised lip I will have to suffer at least I know I shot ok if I have one.
  15. I am right handed but left eye dominant and to make matters worse I cant shut my left eye over the years I have tried just about every method going including cross over stock ( it kicked like a mule ) none worked the only way I can shoot is to tilt my head right over the stock so my left eye is in line with the rib , my rifles have high mounts to enable me to do this it looks awkward but it does work ok not up to George Digweed standards but ok but I do get a thick lip if I fire a lot of shots.
  16. masmiffy I was called in to shoot them when it first came up they were eating the young plants unlike tick or field beans which they don't touch once they are growing .
  17. No it is not a sales gimmick they are clamping down on low use and un filled slots but at renewal , as others have said what do you term as low use I brought 200 rounds of .243 2 years ago just before renewal they could well last me till my next renewal its not for the want of trying I am out with it 2 to 3 times a week but without the need for re zeroeing you don't pull the trigger that often.
  18. £395 tonne for rearer pellets £484 with flubenvet.
  19. As I have said before on other posts on this subject the fibre cup that Gamebore use in some of their steel loads is the way forward in my opinion , it could be used in all cartridges but as panoma1 says the manufacturers don't seem in a hurry to develop it further.
  20. If you have a history of diseases and are using the same pens again it is worth talking to your vet and getting in some of the appropiate medicines for them . I have just had a meeting with ours and got what we need as we always get problems and cant move the pen so he has agreed that prevention is a wise move and I will treat them after 10 days of arrival.
  21. Lawn Ranger there is nothing wrong with steel but as others have said you need to use 32gm 5 or 4 shot .
  22. Figgy I have not found any better than Gamebore I am currently using Jaguar hunting 32gm No 4 on crows and they are devastating through half choke and they were cheap.
  23. I doubt you will get many pigeons on it until it is harvested but blacks will as others have said pull up the new shoots so get out there and protect the crop.
