  1. I think they should probably go down the route of the realistic replica airsoft for members of affiliated clubs and the such - this seems to work as far as I am led to believe. I should imagine there will be thousands of crossbows from the mail order days in the 80s and you can’t control what you have no way of collating. it is a worry when you see them on the market stalls of holiday destinations mind.
  2. @harrycatcat1 how did it clean up?

    Whisky

I remember when drinking Jack Daniel was all the rage in club land. got absolutely trollied on it one night and have never drunk it again.
  4. If your only income is a state pension then you would (should) be eligible for housing benefit almost in full. if your social housing rent is £400 a month then your combined ‘income’ is now nearly £1400. you would probably be getting your cold weather payment and social tariff broadband and such and as such probably not far off the ‘minimum wage’
  5. To remove the red marks give it a spray with lime scale remover and leave overnight. any mould removal spray will clean the silicone up. if it’s acting a bit stubborn spray it and then roll up some toilet paper and put it over and another liberal spray and again leave over night. a quick spray once a month after that should keep you on the straight and narrow.

    Dentist

I thought you paid tuition costs to study dentistry. Is it subsidised by the NHS? Surely if it was they would have to be a return of service. I doubt many private patients would be happy paying a dentist private prices after they had just qualified.
  7. I have seen similar with signs near the mail point saying this is XYZ Farm and is not connected with XYZ ltd, no mail or callers. I wouldn’t return to sender immediately I would keep it in a box outside before dumping all in a post box stamped unknown at this address this is not the base for XYZ. im sure after a few missed payment reminders, components or cheques there will be a change.

    Smartwatch

Buy a cheap Amazon jobby for £30. you won’t be wearing a smart watch out for best if your bashing it about in the field and work (depending on your job). if you are hell bent on a one for all then the usual apple offerings buy I have seen a few with garmin
  9. You can try highlighting copy and paste the password before it logs you in. failing that you can go into your internet browser setting and look at passwords and saved passwords. same with your phone if you log on there
  10. Slightly off topic but I know a guy who would rifle shoot with an eye patch (like a pirate) as he found it impossible to only close 1 eye!?
  11. Thanks for sharing. interesting and nice to see a bit of everyday faultfinding and remedying.
  12. Lovely looking thing. Even nicer it’s complete with the bag and scope.
  13. As usual, Listen to this advice and this alone
  14. A conscript army is not a war winning army as can be seen with the Russians and to an extent the Ukrainians. As a blocking / static force it can be argued there is a place for numbers over training. you cannot replace the professional soldier on todays battlefield. the army is at the smallest since conceived but tactics and war fighting have evolved massively. We no longer form line and walk slowly with our red jackets on. everything has become more technical and streamlined. A communication network to cover the battlefield that took hours to set up and was massively manpower heavy can now be done by imbedded troops. The frontline repair of equipment in some cases is now hours of component pod swapping rather than days. There have been massive lessons learned in the use of drones and protection of infantry with the Ukraine acting as a proving ground. then we have the reserve element and then onto the regular reserve element who can be up skilled so much easier than the youth of the street.

    Battery

One of the car programs on YouTube did an experiment regarding stop start and just running. they worked out stop start did save fuel but the results were not gallons and not even litres. if you have the aircon running most of our cars will kill the stop start function for some reason
  16. Next you will be saying you are considering putting a light somewhere near the stairs for when you use it in the dark and only carrying 1 box at a time so you can see over them. looks fine to me. I very much doubt you will be hurt at all. All a big fuss. stairs could probably use a fresh waxing as well 😀
  17. Would this be suitable. https://www.deafawarenesstechnology.co.uk/shop/HPI-Induction-Loop-System-Home-Car-Caravan-Mobile-Home-for-People-who-are-Hearing-Impaired not cheap at £180 but for the use you will get out of it it’s probably a small price to pay.
  18. After suffering an injury that has laid me up pretty much immobile for a few weeks I now need to start shifting some weight. My ability to train is also somewhat curtailed to low low impact and low requirement for foot and ankle flexion. I work long hours with minimal food prep facilities and floating meal timings. As such I think meal replacement shakes may be beneficial for the short term. i have tried them before and am not keen on any which are ‘bitty’ and any that are on the thick side. I used to use celebrityslimm but that appears to have disappeared or be very very expensive. I’m not too keen on the maximuscle stable. anyone have any ideas?
  19. Condolences on your loss marshman. I don’t think the civil service type pensions are as gold plated as is imagined. a majority of the final salary related ones stopped a while ago. Employee contributions are often a lot higher than a majority of those in the private sector. there is still a large government employer that has a zero percent employee contribution. whatever way you look at it the NHS cannot continue in its current form but a majority would rather have it that not. When I have needed it it has been there, may be not the best or quickest but there. I have always said if you don’t like it there are many a private hospital to go to. they do need to clamp down on the blatant abuse - oh I have just landed on holiday and have gone into labour. - poor nan has just arrived on her first visit to the uk and discovers she needs an urgent transplant. - poor grandad has also just arrived and has all of a sudden developed a life threatening illness that requires vast amounts of specialist treatment
  20. Can you get a cheap bore camera to attach to your phone so you can have a proper poke around inside? Amazon must have a cheap offering
  21. Could you not pop to matalan or primark as daft as it sounds. a pair of chinos and a shirt and I think they even have tweed type waistcoats in due to the fashion for such things at weddings now. Or a charity shop for a small men’s old school tweed blazer from the likes of MandS
  22. I recall reading the cost of the ‘fireworks’ is paid for by the London department for culture or something similar, this is funded via local tax. the ticket cost goes towards security, clean up and other ‘running costs’ the figures were published around ticket uptake. It was something like 50 percent ‘out of towners’ 25 percent Londoners and 25 percent foreign visitors. the total cost give or take a couple of hundred grand is £2million this is about half of the other capital cities expenditure. imagine the outcry if next year London said we are not doing any fireworks this year. does the economy generate the cost of the fireworks - quite probably
  23. I was on a course with a guy who had a BMW electric - not sure if the model but it was a small cube type design. anyway he said the acceleration was much better than any Porsche or hot hatch he had ever had, he could drive it into the city without worrying about any charges and it suited him as he charged at home every evening but he could go a few trips without worry he did say for trips further afield he used the old oil burner but his ev was designed for the trips he did day in day out and that if he really wanted he could do the other oil burner trip but it would take some planning
