KDR
The wife thinks me and my son are mad...but i would like to bet yous all do the same thing...!!! Everywhere your driving your never really 100% concentrating on the road..!!!! there's always a little bit of you on pigeon alert looking in the fields counting birds on power lines and on the floor... Second thing...and i do this all the time....if im walking or driving or even riding the bike...A pigeon fly's along side you or across you and in your head your shooting that bird.. you've worked out the speed, the line, and the lead required be honest...i bet some of you have even shot at them with a pretend gun . Tell me is not just me...

WoodyPopper
I started shooting as a teenager, then gave it when I moved to London, moved out of London, got married etc. I only took it up again about 3 years ago. But in all those years, I never stopped taking those imaginary shots. Yes, my wife thinks I'm mad - especially when I tell her "I'd have missed that one", or "I definitely hit that one". alfa taf
ALWAYS !! Not only that but when flying parallel , have a glance at speedometer to see how fast they fly !!
welshwarrior
Mine thinks I'm mad as I follow them throw and think where my hide could have gone etc.
Redditch
You look at them and think, I´ll set up my hide there, and nearly drive through the hedge trying to get there LOL
Cranfield
I think that happens to all of us and its even worse if you are a fisherman, I can't drive past a river or lake without thinking where and how I would fish it.
Aled
Yep i do it too in some shape or form, looking at a river when crossing, or thinking "thats a nice bit of cover for woodcock" whilst driving past a small wood, or loads of pigeon there, looks like a nice flightpond etc. However unlike most couples i am well aware of one thing, my wife is a far bbetter driver than i am, so i'm often sat in the passenger seat! Tight Lines Aled
Fatcatsplat
ALWAYS !! Not only that but when flying parallel , have a glance at speedometer to see how fast they fly !! They generally average 50 to 60 mph going down the A2 - I do exactly the same!!
proTOM1
Yes, my wife thinks I'm mad - especially when I tell her "I'd have missed that one", or "I definitely hit that one". My other half thinks im mad spending most my spare time shooting the things but then when we go anywhere for a day i say things like the quote above . Think we all must do it

Tell me is not just me... Can't say i do it while driving, but i find when walking my terrier he will naturally flush birds and when he does i find myself doing exactly the mental "shooting the bird" thing you mention above, even to the point of imagining the bang. never used a pretend gun though - Air shotgun would be just plane silly(er)
Batch
Guilty!! The amount of pigeon I shoot in my back garden with my left index finger is unbelievable ...... just a shame I can't replicate it in the field, strange that

BenBhoy
all the time mate, missus constantly telling me off for looking at birds or looking at crops in fields. as for second point, not as bad as my dad - he got caught by a fellow dog walker "shooting" pigeon with his stick!! Dangerous Brian
Guilty as charged! Imaginary shooting whilst on the drive to work just passes the time better (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). Just as well I don't have to buy cartridges for all these shots or I would be bankrupt.
gyp
Even my 5 year old daughter shouts "fat pigeon daddy" every time she see's one. She told her teacher at school; while out in the school garden, that daddy shoots pigeons and my brother(who's 6) plucks them and we eat them for tea. God know what the teacher thought.! Greenhunter
Yes, another guilty party here. Have had a fair few left and rights in the garden and one or two 'red-letter' days too if I hit as many as I 'shoot' at(it doesn't take many for me to call them that ) I tracked a pair for about 1/2 mile one day, they were sauntering along at a steady-ish 50 mph. Great to watch! GH
cant hit rabbits 123
All the time! When I'm a little more absent minded I have even raised my minds gun the my shoulder! Luckily I was alone at the time, so no dodgey looks from passers by.
rimfire4969
Guilty as charged, i have gone as far as to race them and follow then to find out where they are feeding.

-Mongrel-
... Air shotgun would be just plane silly(er) Yeah! 'cos that would be just plain daft wouldn't it? I mean, who in their right mind would cock one arm around the stock and support the imaginary forend with t'other and mutter "boom" at the imaginary shot with no actual gun within a country mile?! Nutters!
carpentermark
PIGEONS: If im not shooting them (well, shooting at em) im watching them, if im not watching them im reading about them, if im not reading about them im thinking about them and if im not thinking about them im dreaming of em! and if im not doing any of the above then its time to bring a big long box and dig a hole for me!
