Gordon R
The answer is a fist full of dollars or a few dollars more. The latter was the better of the two. I also rate Last Train from Gun Hill and the Big Country.
Bagsy
Some of the Spaghetti Westerns, particularly those featuring the Clint Eastwood were spot on
Blunderbuss
Also a big fan of the spaghetti westerns and although Clint was good in them, Lee Van Cleef is da man older stuff? The Magnificent Seven. Last year's remake of True Grit was pretty cool too.

Azzurri
Anything with Eastwood,Van Cleef & Wallach cast together gets my vote, doesn't matter how many times you've seen the films before they're still brilliant Not really interested in the modern stuff but quite enjoyed the remake of 3:10 to Yuma with Russell Crowe Azzurri

aldivalloch
Anybody remember the t.v. mini-series "Lonesome Dove"? Made in 1989, based on a novel by Larry McMurtry, and featuring Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Danny Glover and Angelica Huston amongst others. Still available on DVD, and regarded as one of the finest "westerns" ever made. Absolutely brilliant!
steve_b_wales
There was a film that i saw in school, back in the 1970's, called Mackenna's Gold. Not so much a western, but very good viewing.
