Paddy Galore!
i used to enjoy the odd bevvy, but last time i got trousered i drove the porcelain bus all the way back to the land of Nod, since then it makes me gag a bit. went to the woodfordes brewery last weekend and i did not feel great afterwards, i had to stuff a whopping great steak down me before i felt any better. i can thoroughly recommend the fur & feather for good grub though
steve_b_wales
The only time I have any alcohol, and that's a few glasses of lager, or the Smirnof Ice type drinks, is either when I'm on holidays (about twice a year) or New Years Eve. On holidays, during a 2 week stay for example, my total intake of lager/beer would be around 10 pints max. I prefer to have soft drinks instead. Many years ago though, it was a different story, and I regulary got sozzled on a weekend, and sometimes mid-week.
buckaroo23
I'm not teetotal but as near as now, special occasions, holidays that does me, it's very hard not to drink but I feel better for it, especially when my mates are out every chance they get and have to get wrecked, I sit there shandy or a larger dash spend half as much and feel fresh the next day, and I gave up smoking 18 months ago and still going strong
NickS
I don't smoke and apply a variation on the "oyster rule" to my drinking - I only have a drink if there is a "Y" in the day. Nick

Gimlet
Gave up drink 4 years ago and smoking 5. Never looked back. Wish I'd never started either. Youngsters take note. Edited October 4, 2012 by Gimlet
lxtav
Not tea total but hardly drink at all. Maybe the odd glass of wine with dinner or bottle of cider but they can sit in the house for months without being opened. Also staying in the country I have to drive to go anywhere so can't drink when i'm out and really can't be bothered with the hassle of getting alift or the expense of a taxi. Highlandladdie
I have a drink nearly everyday when I'm home, a couple of drams before supper gets the appetite going. But then, I'm only home for 6 months of the year so it balances out. I enjoy whisky, wine and porter. Sometimes even a gin or a port. I've lost the appetite for BIG nights out. I much prefer a meal, good whisky/wine and convivial company. Never smoked in my puff though (boom boom!). I could tea total if I liked. I have to for weeks on end for work. I drink because I enjoy it. Edited October 4, 2012 by Highlandladdie

Archie-fox
I used to be quite a heavy drinker when I was in the forces every weekend out on the booze but since I left and started a job as a doorman ( for extra pocket money as well as my main job)I've not really had a drink...I see drunk people puking up over each other and scrapping, and I think do I look like that when I'm drunk...so my drinking has stopped by 95% probably have 2/3 cans every two weeks.... Bry-M
I discovered early on alcohol disagreed with me (16 or 17 i think) and so never bothered with it after that! 31 now and just don't understand the appeal of drinking. I've never smoked either. I am curious where all this money is that i've supposedly got? People always say 'oh you don't drink? You must have saved a fortune!' Lister
I used to drink myself stupid twice a month when I didn't drive. When I broke my wrist I couldn't drive, I drank every night. I can even remember doing my paper round with hangovers. I used to drink all day when I got the chance I didn't see the point it having a couple. I had alcohol poisoning and then the Doc said my liver wasn't looking good. I got drunk at Christmas part about 5 or 6 years ago that was the lat time, i haven't touch a drop since. i got in touch with some mates a couple of years ago. They both smoked when I knew them before. When they told me they'd given up, I gave up. Unfortunately my body has had a lot of abuse over the years. You don't recover like you did 20 years ago. I nearly said bounce back but when your this big, you don't bounce at all.

Chris Bb
I must be in the minority on here I drink every day of the week. Few pints after work, wine with dinner and depending how bad the day has been gin or more beer before bed. Having said that I occasionally go offshore on dry ships and it doesn't bother me one bit, if it's not there I'm not worried.
daz2202
I feel sorry for those that do not drink, as when you wake up that's the best your gonna feel all day. At least I have something to look forward too !!!

wildfowler.250
Have to say recently I've been out at least once a week and had at least half a bottle of Gin/Vodka each night. Don't know what I hate more, the crippling two day hangover or being in a club sober. No win situation? Wholeheartedly going to try and cut back as I hate wasting days for only being out a few hours the previous night. Can't win though, love going out but 'have' to be plastered to enjoy a club Edited October 4, 2012 by wildfowler.

flynny
I hardly drink, won't drink in the house, or alone, can go weeks without, but when I do go out, I make up for lost time!! Always regret it next morning tho, and as I'm getting older recovery time is getting significantly longer!!!! My early 20,s I'd go out thu, fri and sat night, it would kill me now! Same as mate, now I enjoy a wee dram when we have a fire on the beach at Anglesey, or every now and then when I crank the fire pit up at home, Atb flynny
