Imperfection
Thats correct. Many manufacturers simply stick a can of tyre foam in the boot instead.

Dirty Harry
I have a new Citroen and I got a spare wheel. You can ask for one because most cars have the space for a spare or at least a space saver.
Catamong
My missus had a puncture in her brand new Corsa, just a screw through the tyre, no damage at all, we used the gunk to inflate it, but the tyre dealer said it couldn't be repaired, so we had to buy a new tyre, what a rip off..!! I went to the local breakers last week and picked up a spare, jack & wheelbrace for £15.00, they're now in the boot, which is inconvenient as it reduces the boot capacity, but it's a lot better than having to fork out for another brand new tyre. shaun4860
Seat Altea FR no spare wheel, tin of gunk and a compressor Seat Leon FR spare wheel, same size wheels and tyres go figure
Cannon
My mam has the new mini cooper diesel with those run flat tyres !! Again no spare but the tyres do get punctured still and need replacing ?? Run flat tyres can be saved if you stop when the puncture occurs. If you keep driving, the tyre side wall is the only thing that is holding the weight of the vehicle. There is no longer any support from the air that should be there. This renders the tyre useless as irreparable damage can and usually does occur from continued driving.

Gordon R
My car is one year old - no spare wheel. I got a freebie spare from the late Graham Stephens, who owned a breakers - amongst other things - plus a wheel brace and jack. The boot is a fair size, but the wheel takes up a chunk of it. Asked at dealers how much a spare wheel carrier would be - it fits under the car - £300. It would take less than half an hour to make one and about £5 in materials. Tam
In some manufacturers it is to reduce weight to meet emission requirements & road tax band
n11tht
Have you seen how flimsy some of the spacesaver spares are? with my old 3 series i had 18" inch wheels and got a puncture, whipped it off at the side f the road and fitted the spare. I took one look at the height difference and called the RAC to tow me home
100milesaway
I want to go back to the days when a car had a spare, wind down windows, and none of the so called driver aids. I'm sure i'm not on my own. I want my car to repairable with a skilled mechanic not a child that can repair a computer. Nuff sed.. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! from Auntie. station
In some manufacturers it is to reduce weight to meet emission requirements & road tax band    It's down to them saving money - and then making money - Volvo £115 Vauxhall £115 Ford £95 These prices are just for a steel wheel and tyre, you then have to buy a jack, wheel brace and sometimes the expanded foam liner to store the kit in. It's an absolute rip off. We use kwik fit mobile for our company cars which takes the headache away - until you have to wait upto 4 hours for them to turn up. They are obviously quicker if you are a lone female, but I would sooner have a wheel and tyre to get me on my way. ATB

figgy
Had a civic type r for a few years with a space saver, if you had a puncture on the front, you had to put one of the back wheels on the front, then put the space saver on the back as it wouldn't clear the front brake calipers. Not much thought went into that then Mr Honda. Figgy
955i
To be honest, it would put me right off buying a car if it didn't have a spare. The space saver wheels are ridiculous enough but a tin of foam is useless if you have a blow out on the M5 and lose the centre section of the tyre like I did on my way to Cornwall earlier in the year! Trevorevans
Then a Land Rover Defender fits the bill. +1. Mine is an old 300Tdi Disco though not a Defender (I'll have one one day), but really I'd rather drive that than my 2.8 V6 Audi A4 Quattro. Unless I need to get there quickly or infact guarantee I'll get there at all lol. That said both have full size spare wheels but I also carry a can of tyre inflator just to be on the safe side.
