Gordon R
In no particular order:- Paths of Glory. Cross of Iron. Great Escape - mainly for Steve McQueen doing most of the riding, but not the fence leap - on his "BMW" / BSA. The Cruel Sea - harsh reality of war. The Bedford Incident - more of a Cold War film. Enemy at the Gate - surprisingly thought provoking. Edited May 19, 2013 by Gordon R

My lad is mad on films and is working his way through the 1001 you must see book (and doing well) he has been glowing in terms of Das Boot but I simply cannot do subtitles, just does my head reading a film! He has just turned up with a DVD Directors cut which is apparently ENGLISH, this will be interesting!
Scully
In no particular order: Big Red One: not the best but enjoyable Saving Private Ryan: can' be beaten for its battles enes Cross of Iron:it's Sam Peckinpah nuf said Catch 22 A Bridge Too Far The Bridge at Remargen I wish someone would make a decent First World War movie...... Maybe next year for its Centenary. Enemy at the Gates was superbly gritty, and though Pearl Harbour was carp the battle scenes were terrific Can't forget Blackhawk Down, but there are too many to mention really. Makes the nuts popping off the hull when they go down to 200 metres sound like a .50 cal.
