TIGHTCHOKE
i use glasses, purely because of ejected shells. i cant count how many times i`ve been hit in the face with ejected shells. i always wear glasses. So do you eject the shells from your gun at your own face?
Fudge40
I can recommend Remington T-85 Shooting Glasses, I have had these since I started shooting with is only 6 months but do the job so far. They have changeable lenses not that I have ever changed to the other colour lenses that come with the glasses. They also have arms that you can adjust. Plus they where not that expensive I have attached a link so you can see what they are like but shop around as I only paid about £20 for mine off Amazon I think http://www.midwayuk.com/Remington-T-85-Shooting-Safety-Glasses-Kit-Black-Frame-Clear-Smoke-Amber-Orange-and-Copper-Lenses
TIGHTCHOKE
they lance it with a needle apparantly - all whilst conscious, i'm not looking forward to it I had 6 stitches put in to my right eyeball in 1994 after a penetrating wound! It's hard sitting there watching the needle!
Cosd
Well that was the biggest waste of time ever, two pre op assessments and I turn up today to be told... We can't do that here you'll have to go to Moorfields. It'll need removing with a microscope, knife and stitching. Oh great, so that's another couple of months wait. Bloody thing feels horrible now Rant over Typical! Hope it gets sorted soon for you Nick!

SakoQuad
ESS glasses are good for the money. Fleabay always have some for sale. Multi colour lens's option of a headband as well as standard side arms (can't imagine using that though!). Sorry to hear surgery was delayed - hope you don't have to wait too long to get it sorted. Twistedsanity
I had a small cyst on my eyelid , they clamped my eyelids open with some horror story style spreading device so I couldn't close them , i coped ok with the scalpel coming towards me to remove the cyst it was the soldering iron that followed to cauterise the wound that made me cack myself , the smell of burning flesh was horrendous and I went back into the waiting room looking like I had done a few rounds with mike Tyson! mick miller
Good luck Nick, a valid warning. I have to admit to not wearing glasses very often when shooting, might have to rethink that now. Hope it gets sorted soon enough.
figgy
Always wear them for clays but I never do for game and Wildfowling. I should defiantly wear them for fowling with a semi and big loads. Try some eye drops that help with the pain, used them in the past when had welding flash. Figgy
remmyman
I've got my eye operation in an hour - to have a cyst removed - most likely caused by powder irritation whilst shooting a semi-auto when the shells eject (it appeared shortly after i'd been clay shooting). It pays to wear protection! - it's been getting bigger over the last month and more irritating - looks like a tapeworm cyst! Fingers crossed i'll have the eyepatch off by tomorrow, else i can't drive up to the charity shoot! Hi Beardo, Hope that your op went well and that your well on the mend! I use/have used s/autos for all of my clay, pigeon and duck shooting for the last 15yrs or so and though I wear prescription/shooting glasses at all times whilst shooting can certainly relate to unburnt powder/residue 'sticking' to my eye on occasions,(normally caused by a combo of a dirty and/or cold shell and shooting into a headwind). But have been fortunate not to have suffered a condition such as yours. However about 5yrs or so ago I was installing some grain walling for a local farmer. This involved cutting some of the galvanised steel sheeting with a jig-saw.Despite wearing safety goggles some steel 'sawdust' got in my eye which resulted in 2 trips to A+E (they missed it the first time!). The MO was anaesthetic drops and a 'scratching' motion with a Hyperdermic needle! Trust me when I say when the anaesthetic wore off (About 4 in the morning) it ******g hurt!!!!! Anyway about 6mths later whilst having a routine eye test the optician asked me what had caused the scar in my right eye (also right handed and master eyed). Upon hearing this he replied 'You're a lucky boy, 3mm higher and you would have been partially sighted in that eye' a sobering thought!! Anyone reading this PLEASE don't take any chances with your eyesight, seek medical attention immediately because what at first may appear insignificant can turn out to be life changing, all the best Remmyman
Guest cookoff013
So do you eject the shells from your gun at your own face? who said anything about me ejecting into my own face? its about being behind shooters who like to pop them over their shoulder. incidently when i had my first clay lessons, the instructor, suggested wearing glasses, throuout the day i noticed he got hit in the glasses about 20 times of shells ejecting into his own face. these are the people wh havent learned to cup their hands / catch the eject. Bargain http://www.wickes.co.uk/invt/200271 http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=shooting+glasses You can get some coloured shooting glasses fairly inexpensively. I was fairly surprised at how the yellow glasses brightened and sharpened things up in overcast or poor light.

henry d
Not nice... hope you get it sorted soon. I am now seriously thinking about it as I have had bits of powder/residue hit me in the eye, especially roost shooting with my Xtrema.
