bullet boy
This might have been done before but if you could only have one Air-Rifle whether it be a Spring gun or PCP-which would it be? For me my favourite Air-rifle is my superb Daystate Air Ranger so this would be my choice! It not only is super accurate but in .177 calibre is capable of over 400 shots per charge with the onboard 500cc bottle. What is your choice and Why? chrisjpainter
Air Wolf for me! I'm not a great fan of the rather bulky trigger - I prefer the thin trigger on the ranger - but the electrics, the huge air reserve, the accuracy? unbeatable! demonwolf444
Currently just my modified xs78 will group under a half inch at 30 yards. Got super lucky with the barrel and its is quiet with a silencer on it. Fairly light and convenient. I do have a webley venom viper that will out shoot the 78, and it has far superior handling and a two shot mag, however it needs a silencer badly, as it has a bit to much Bark for plinking or hunting. evo
has to be the Daystate Huntsman Classic .22, reason why,,very accurate , very light,,and an awesome hunting rifle but one of the main reasons is the after sales service from daystate has been nothing short of superb, if I had another choice then it would have to be the Daystate Air Ranger ( picking a new one up at the midland game fair) . an Awsone piece of kit and also deadly accurate

jackinbox99
My s410 in .22 I know it inside out and have lost count of the amount of kills ive had with it. Although having recently bought a rapid 12 in .20 I may change my mind once i get more used to the rapid.
bruno22rf
I wrote few weeks back, after buying a Daystate MK3,that I would post my findings after I had a bit more time to evaluate the gun-I have argued for years that the D/state range are over priced and over complicated. This topic seems the ideal opportunity to reveal my opinion.First question is-is it twice the gun that my AA S400 was? -No is the harsh answer but then the AA guns take a shed load of beating so maybe that's a bridge too far.The only way to experience a Daystate and to understand what they are all about is to buy one and live with it. In the few short weeks that I have owned her, the MK3 has spent more time in the repair shop than all the guns that I have ever owned (30+) put together and at times I have considered smashing the thing to pieces and yet it still manages to find a place in my heart. After spilling pellets backwards into the action (needing a strip down) and jamming up then clipping the moderator and sending pellets to all four corners of the world she finished one shooting session with a constant array of beeps and flashing lights that saw my first hangover for years. The very next day saw her redeem herself by producing a 10 shot ragged one hole group at 35 yards. So my vote is for the MK3-owning one is like joining a family and factory back up is beyond reproach, The feeling of pride when slipping these guns out of a case is a lot of the pleasure of ownership so maybe they are,in fact, good value-I will admit that its the only gun that I have "missed" while I was away for a few days-sad or what?. Salop Matt
For me it would have to be anything from the Daystate stable, I can just bring myself to add the new regal to that also. I love them all and would struggle to choose between manula and electric and bottle or tube. With any i would be as happy as a pig in smelly stuff ! .177 as my prefered calibre secondly closely by .22. And it would have to be a MTC scope also with the SCB reticule. GingerCat
Decent hw Springer in either .177 or .22 not fussy and you know it will outshoot and out last you. Given the choice a 99s or a nice 80.
-Mongrel-
AirArms S510 carbine with Weirauch silencer. Quite simply the best all round gun I have ever owned or shot. It would have been my 410 before I bought the 510, the 510 takes it up yet another level. I've had BSA's, Weirauchs, Daystates and a few others, and some of them have been stunning bits of kit, but the ones I keep coming back to as the most complete package are the AirArms. Churchill
If i could only have one It would be my .177 Air Ranger, Great shot count, its more accurate than i am, and it just oozes quality. Having said that i still reach for the Mk 1 AA S200 from time to time, it has its faults but is still accurate and very light.

bullet boy
IMO the HW80 or the HW77 are the best Spring guns ever made so if I was to choose only one Spring Gun it would undoubtedly be a HW80 or a HW77.

tinbum71
I've tried every springer under the sun this weekend and have had a PH Dragon Sporter in the past. With that in mind I am now of the opinion that my Fenman .20 is as good as it gets in a self contained package. I did try a .22 Taunus which was just as good if not slightly better. I will have to get a .22 barrel now! As far as pcp goes, I have an FX Typhoon smooth twist in .22 which ticks many boxes. I'm fitting a reg later this week which will solve the power curve problem, and although I'd like a buddy bottle gun, in reality I never fire that many shots on an outing. So if I could just have one....... Theoben MFR in .20! Edited June 18, 2013 by tinbum71
