Kes
Ever since the Hurricane that was not forecast, (Michael Fish?),the meteorologists have been trying to forecast one before it arrives and this is their chance. Initially forecast at 80 mph winds, late on Sunday evening, I was becoming worried about the roosting pheasants and the feeders being blown about. However, in our area the wind speeds are being reported as likely to be max 50 mph gusts - so what happened to the 70/80 mph gusts are you guys in the south keeping all the really bad weather for yourselves ? Even your projected wind speeds barely top 60 mph gusts. Where is the hurricane - or is it again, once bitten, twice fantasize ?
TIGHTCHOKE
It would appear that the nasty weather is heading somewhere else! Just checked the BBC Weather site, nothing much coming our way on the Cambs/Lincs border. N.B. Possibly famous last words!!!!!

chrisjpainter
I think it's meant to take all it's anger out on the South. I think we get hit sunday afternoon, then it peaks late sunday night. I think i might put tent pegs into the chickens and ducks, or else they might be scattered about across the village by monday

norfolk dumpling
Shooting today in Sth Norfolk and the partridges went like stink - hit one curling, high and very fast. Didn't worry about rest of day. We are however worried about storm. Back in '87 lost 120ft of wall and a few tiles. One of my daughters still traumertised by high winds. Now living dwin in a valley hidden by hills/woods on 3 sides so think we are ok. House built in 1600 so hope will be ok.
