Dangerous Brian
Eley VIP (32g No.5, fibre wad) go pretty well in my 20 bore. Haven't bought any yet this year so can't advise on availability. Hope this helps.

everycal
Id also stick with 28 gram loads, I shot 28 g 6s for most things but on a bit of a higher day on Sat so am going to be using 5s but still 28 grams. 30 or especially 32 gram loads will kick a bit after a few shots! Im on gamebore traditional game and RC Sipe at the moment.
wildfowler.250
Use a 20 a lot and my take on it is this: it's a lighter caliber so use 'lighter' shells. If you're going to shoot 32gram loads you might as well be using a 12. Plus 28gram shells will kill as well. The 32 gram loads will kick more and when you a driven shooting your are going to be firing a lot of shots so it adds up... Express do a good 28 gram 6. casts_by_fly
I'm shooting both Eley VIP and Gamebore traditional game in 30g 5's. They kill well and pattern well out to 40 yards in a fixed IC/Mod. thanksrick

I would use the 12 but it's very heavy and recoil doesn't bother me / it's only a small day I'm shooting so max 50 shots by me so recoil isn't a problem / the keeper has asked if I see any close foxes to shoot them
TIGHTCHOKE
Gamebore 28g 6s was all that I used to put through my little 686.
matone
Found Eley VIP 28g No 5 to be good for everything gamewise and they`re pretty smooth to shoot through lightish 20 bores. RC 26g good also.
20bjames
I shoot a 20 bore for all my shooting and I find the gamebore pure gold 28 g 6 do the job and they don't kick bad

Dunkield
I know it is a can of worms but 30/32grams cartridges must really thump through a 20 bore no? I have dropped from 32 to 28 in my 12 and have appreciated the difference.
hawkfanz
not an issue for me never ever notice recoil.

matone
they are firm but they dont hurt you. That will depend on the weight of gun I should think !

I shoot a light 686 sp5 and i don't notice any difference between 30 and 21 g. I have enough jackets/shirts on plus when shooting at game i am focused on what i am shooting, not the recoil. Thanks Rick
Cranfield
Without derailing the thread, I think gun fit is as big an influence on recoil, as cartridge size. The guns I use the most (2x12ga and 2x20ga) are all less than six and a half pounds and I don't notice recoil.

MattSoanes
I use the JK6 26g, never cease to amaze how far you can kill game with these. Only been using a 20b since the end of last season and havnt picked up my 12b for shooting live quarry since, love it. I still can't get my head around putting a heavy load through a light 20b gun.
