Fuddster
when I asked the question at work 'why was mandela imprisoned?' most responses were 'because he was black'. apparently it was because he was an active, militant player in setting bombs on rail lines and power grids to interupt the domestic infrastructure to demonstrate is political will. one mans terrorist is another mans freedom fighter. only time will tell the truth. personally the words leopards, spots, PR, spin, media player spring to mind. aris
I get a lot of flak for saying this, but by todays post 9/11 standards, he was a terrorist. SA has been on a downward spiral for some time - I dont think Mandela going will make any difference.

timmytree
He was a politician, maybe one of the better politicians and certainly had charisma. But was he a terrorist? was he a freedom fighter? Did he commit crime? To my mind every politician is a liar with an agenda which includes self advancement and greed. RIP Nelson Mandela. Someone else will take his place.
