Country Fairs - What annoys you?

I went to a few country fairs last year and imho they, particularly the trade stands were rubbish.

Just at the end of the pigeon coying season really, and just before fowling season and all they had was super expensive pigeon kit. When asked about fowling kit/coys all was said was "it's on the webpage" fine if you know what you're looking for but **** if you want to see the options in person.

Rant over let's hope they are better this year.

2 things really. 1, the rip off price on entry, fair enough everyone is in for a profit, but come on. 2, the crapy little ****y stalls selling basically bootsale junk, marketstall ****. You know the type I mean, cheap kids toys lighters etc. Just general bric a brack. At the end of the day you've travelled a fair distance to get there, paid over the odds to get in, to buy some good decent hunting gear then they got the cheek to try and sell you rubbish

Loads of gripes....

The price to get it...

the "show special" price ...say was £150....show price £100...but on the net at the same store for the same item...£105.......

the price of food and drink...not paying £4.35 for a pint of gnats ****....so found the Norfolk Cider stand many years ago...

the queues to get in

I actually liked the hot tubs - possibly because the stand I went to the product was 'demonstrated' by an exceptionally attractive young girl in a WHITE bikini with stunning assets and blonde to boot. I found myself looking very carefully at the experience of a user !

Amazing sight when she climbed out !

Other than that prices for entry, childrens games everywhere, endless poor artists, very few bargains because of the prices charged for stalls.

The one at Holkham Hall is not too bad, gun carriage displays by the kings troop, a few gun dealers, plenty of tat like wolds most powerful hand held liquidiser, there was the excellent Clay Pigeon shooting stand run by someone from here, who kindly provided the tickets to get in FOC!

Sandringham one is quite good too, same as the above, bit more arts and farts, but got a lovely watercolour of a couple of shooters in the woods.

Newark one in October/November was totally useless, never going to a Robin Hood fair again!

Went to lowther last year with the family...

Rip off to get in,,, rip off food... rip off beer...

Only one stand selling guns ect....

Was one off the best game fairs going... not anymore!!

I was at Lowther last year. I'll agree about the rip off entry fee, but there were four stands selling guns.

Stopped going years ago, obscene entry fees and ridiculous food prices like £5 for a ham salad in 95 :| , decent starters in restaurants today are less than that ! I bought some batteries off some pigeon stand which turned out to be duff, how the guy sleeps at night I'll never know.

I no longer bother with any of them!

Several points that put me off are listed below;

1. The entry fee to allow you to spend money at the stalls is a RIP-OFF.

2. The poor number of shooting related traders.

3. The proliferation of stalls selling pointless c*ap.

4. Any clay shooting is normally pretty poorly thought out and usually involves a lot of going away birds.
